Good news for Queen City eateries today. The Reds and free agent closer Jonathan Broxton are close to reaching a multi-year deal, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. If an agreement is indeed met, it likely means a move to the starting rotation for Aroldis Chapman (barring injury) as Broxton will be thrusted into closing. The 28-year old Broxton was acquired by the Reds on July 31 from the Royals and finished out the season quite well pitching out of the setup role. He produced a 2.82 ERA, 3-3 record, and four saves in 25 appearances for the NL Central Champs last year. He owns a 3.10 ERA and 111 saves in his 8-year big league career. Broxton earned approximately $4 million in base salary last season after he inked a one-year deal with Kansas City during the offseason. It's all but certain that he will see a bump in pay in 2013 and beyond. Rosenthal is reporting that the deal is expected to be for three years, however, no word yet on how much the deal is worth...
