The Cincinnati Reds placed shortstop Zack Cozart on the 15-day disabled list prior to Sunday's game against the Atlanta Braves.
Cozart left Saturday's contest after hyperextending his left elbow while defending himself against the slide of Nate McLouth in the fourth inning.
The 26-year-old Cozart immediately grabbed his elbow and covered his face to hide the pain. He was replaced by Edgar Renteria.
Cozart is batting .324 with two homers, three RBIs and six runs scored since being recalled on July 7.
In a corresponding move, the Reds recalled shortstop Paul Janish from Triple-A Louisville.
