Reds-stubbs-bats-against
The Cincinnati Reds have placed center fielder Drew Stubbs on the 15-day disabled list with a strained muscle on his left side and called up utilityman Willie Harris from Triple-A Louisville. The team announced the moves Friday before the opener of a three-game series against the New York Mets. Chris Heisey, who had been subbing for Stubbs in center, was out of the starting lineup after leaving Thursday's game against Cleveland with a mild groin strain. Wilson Valdez made his first major league start in center. Stubbs went on the DL retroactive to June 6 and Reds manager Dusty Baker says he hopes the outfielder will be healthy enough to come off when the team returns home next Friday against Minnesota.

Streaking Reds pulling away with division lead

NEW YORK After slogging through a rough patch during the early part of June that saw them lose five of seven games not to mention their hold on the lead in the National League Central the Cincinnati Reds seem to be completely off the schneid and finding their rhythm once again. Saturday night's 4-1 win over the New York Mets at Citi Field was the fifth straight for the suddenly...

Bruce, Bailey help Reds top Mets 4-1

NEW YORK -- Jon Niese had appeared to right himself quickly in the first inning Saturday night, retiring two of the Cincinnati Reds' toughest hitters after allowing a pair of leadoff singles. The New York Mets starter got ahead of Jay Bruce 0-2, then opted for a curveball. Suddenly, Niese was no longer righting himself or getting ahead, as Bruce smacked the hanging curve...

Game 62: Indians 5, Reds 12

The Reds got out their brooms for yesterday’s game against the Indians and swept that sucker, 5-12. Mike Leake took the mound for the Reds. He was pitching on long rest, necessitated by the flu-like symptoms that he caught from half the other guys in the clubhouse. It wasn’t a stellar performance. In 4.1 innings pitched he allowed 3 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks. Two of those hits...

Reds outslug Mets, 7-3

BP has been smokin' at the plate as of late. It was a good night to be a Reds fan as the boys took care of business for their fourth straight win, starting the trip to the Big Apple in style with a 7-3 win over the Mets. With the win, Cincy moves to a season-best nine games over .500 at 36-27 and moved to four games up on Pittsburgh. The...

Reds 12, Indians 5

Brandon Phillips hit one of Cincinnati's three homers and drove in four more runs on Thursday afternoon, leading the ailing Reds to a 12-5 victory and their first three-game sweep of the Cleveland Indians since 2008. Joey Votto and Ryan Ludwick also homered for the Reds, who had a season-high 17 hits. No surprise that Phillips played a starring role in the sweep. He went 8...

Seriously, this.

I know slumps are a part of baseball, but how bad has it been lately? It’s getting to the point where I have random buddies who know I’m a Jay Bruce fan that text me to make fun of the poor fella (and me). One friend was nice enough to nickname him Jay ’0-fuhr’. Fittingly, I suppose. Bruce was the only Reds player in the lineup to go 0 for the day in not only today’s game...

Dusty Baker: Derek Lowe was probably drinking at the ballpark and doesn’t remember what he did

If Dusty Baker and Derek Lowe didn’t hate each other prior to Wednesday, they do now. During the Indians 5-2 loss to the Reds, Lowe took exception to a Mat Latos fastball that was thrown close to him and he felt was intentional. He was right. Lowe ripped Baker on Wednesday night and Dusty was asked to respond to Lowe’s comments on Thursday morning. He fired back incredibly hard...

Reds 12 Indians 5: Swept In Cincinnati By The Brandon Phillips Show

Team President Mark Shapiro was a highly thought of and for the most part successful General Manager with the Indians before being bumped up stairs. He fleeced the Mariners in getting Asdrubal Cabrera and Shin-Soo Choo in separate deals for the “Benuardo” first base platoon (Ben Broussard and Eduardo Perez). He got Carlos Santana for Casey Blake and Travis Hafner for Einar Diaz...
