Now that the Reds’ series victory streak was snapped at the
hands of the Nationals over the weekend that just means that its time to start
a new one, right? Well, they will just have to wait on that, at least in the
traditional sense as they’re on the road for two games at Atlanta. It’s quick
and hopefully fun, just like this preview.
So, how are the Braves doing? Quite well in fact, standing
22-13 and atop the NL East (and making everyone except Mets fans forget about a
starting the season on the wrong side of a puzzling series sweep). Atlanta is
fresh off three wins in St. Louis, so thanks for that, guys.
Maybe it’s a good thing the Reds are playing the Braves in
Atlanta as while they’ve been good at home (8-5), they’ve been beasts on the
road thus far (14-8).
The Braves aren’t hitting the cover off the ball for average
(.268, although that looks pretty sweet compared to the Reds’ .238), but they
manufacture runs – the...

Baseball has been very, very good to Cueto
Forget about his stingy 1.12 ERA this season or the fact that he hasn't lost a decision since last August. Forget that he sported a tidy 2.31 ERA in 24 starts last season. Forget that his 2012 WHIP is under one (0.972) and forget that his K/BB ratio is an efficient 3.88. Yes, Johnny Cueto is not only the Reds' best starting...
Joey Votto made history yesterday, and Cooperstown took notice. Though his three-homer performance against the Washington Nationals wasn’t a first (heck, Votto has done it before himself), it was the first time one of those three home runs was a walk-off grand slam.

Reds third baseman Scott Rolen has gone back on the 15-day disabled list because of a problem with his left shoulder, which had surgery last year.
The 37-year-old infielder has struggled at the plate, batting only .174 with two homers and 11 RBIs. He was examined by a doctor Saturday and went on the DL with a strained shoulder, which has been a chronic problem. He played in only...
Chipper Jones final season with the Braves isnt near complete, but hes already bequeathed something to one of his young teammates.
For years, Jones and Braves fans knew where he would be in the lineup. If he wasnt hitting third, he wasnt playing.
It was a given. A constant. A fact of life.
No. 10 belonged in the No. 3 spot, which generally goes to a teams best all-around hitter...

Joey Votto hit a grand slam in the ninth inning for his third home run of the game, rallying the Cincinnati Reds to a rain-delayed 9-6 victory over the Washington Nationals on Sunday.
Votto hit solo homers in his first two at-bats and finished a big day with his second career slam with two outs in the ninth.
Washington came into the game with only 15 homers allowed all season,...
The Reds salvaged a single game from the series with the Nationals by winning yesterday in walk-off fashion. Since it was a grand slam that put it away, the final score of 6-9 makes it sound like the Reds looked a whole lot better than they really did. Even so, it couldn’t have been a bit more exciting than it was.
The Reds (17-16) go to visit the NLE-leading...

Reds' fans came for a win and a bobblehead,
but left with just the bobble.
The Reds (16-16) took on the Nationals (21-12) Saturday night looking to help their chances at keeping their "series" winning streak alive, however it was not meant to be as Cincinnati lost its second game in as many nights to Washington. Mat Latos went to the mound opposite Jordan Zimmerman...
ST. LOUIS - The signed Chipper Jones jersey hangs in Mitchell Boggs' house. The childhood memories will stay with the Cardinals reliever forever.
Jones made his final regular season appearance in St. Louis this weekend before he retires at the end of the season. And lifelong Braves fans such as Boggs will be sad to see him go.
"I was a huge Chipper fan growing up,"...
Joey Votto is looking to build on his best - and most dramatic - performance of the season for the Cincinnati Reds.
The NL East-leading Atlanta Braves are trying to continue their own impressive production at the plate.
On the heels of his first three-homer game in more than four years, Votto and the Reds visit the Braves for the first of two meetings Monday night.
ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Brandon Beachy pitched six innings of one-run ball and helped himself with an RBI single, Michael Bourn added a solo homer and the Atlanta Braves beat the St. Louis Cardinals 7-2 Saturday night.
Beachy (4-1) allowed only two singles and lowered his ERA to 1.60, fifth best in the NL. He struck out six and walked four.
Bourn went 3 for 6 with two RBIs and two runs...
ATLANTA (AP) -- Jonny Venters, one of baseball's top setup relief pitchers in 2011, has hit a rough spot this season.
Venters gave up two runs in the eighth inning, including Brandon Phillips' double that drove in the go-ahead run and helped the Cincinnati Reds beat the Atlanta Braves 3-1 on Monday night.
Venters (2-2) has a blown save and a loss in his last three appearances...
