We have yet another layer of the story involving Major League Baseball’s investigation into the Biogenesis clinic in Miami. An associate of clinic founder Anthony Bosch, claims Bosch met with New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez in Detroit during the 2012 American League Championship series. The Yankees were swept by the Detroit Tigers during last year’s ALCS, and Rodriguez reportedly visited with Bosch when he was in the middle of a 1-for-9 slump. Porter Fischer, who was the clinic’s marketing director before a falling-out with Bosch, was the man who divulged the story. Rodriguez is said to have summoned Bosch to Detroit to consult with him, after a dreadful slump had cost the veteran slugger his starting job. ESPN’s “Outside the Lines” is reporting that Fischer left Biogenesis in September. He had invested $20,000 in the company but his connection to Bosch began to fall apart and he demanded his money back. Bosch eventually paid Fischer the $20,000 but refused to pay an additional $4,000 Fischer thought he was owed. Fischer reportedly confronted Bosch about the money upon his return from consulting with Rodriguez in Detroit. Fischer threatened to go public with stories about the clinic’s ties to performance-enhancing drugs and professional athletes if he wasn’t paid, so Rodriguez gave Bosch at least $4,000 to “make it go away.” MLB investigators have checked out most of Fischer’s stories and believe him to be a credible witness, which is why the revelation about Bosch and Rodriguez meeting during the ALCS is important. If Fischer is a key piece in baseball’s investigation and is considered a reliable source, then he has directly linked Bosch and Rodriguez as recently as last fall. Fischer also told the Miami New Times that Major League Baseball paid him $5,000 for clinic records he turned over to the league for investigation. The South Florida clinic has become ground zero in baseball’s fight against performance-enhancing drugs, and it appears Rodriguez is the top target of the investigation. *Originally posted on Rumors and Rants The post Report: Alex Rodriguez met with Anthony Bosch during 2012 ALCS appeared first on Midwest Sports Fans.
