A mini cold war has erupted in the American League West, as the Angels have reportedly joined the Orioles as possible suitors for Zack Greinke. This comes a day after is was reported that the Rangers are the favorite to acquire Cole Hamels if he is moved before the trade deadline.

According to Jon Heyman of CBSsports.com, the Angels have added their name to the hat as possible trade parters for the former Cy Young winner, along with the Rangers and Orioles. It is not clear if the Brewers will move Greinke prior to the trade deadline, however, the team does risk losing him to the free agent market next season if they are unable to agree to a long term deal.

Greinke is 9-3 on the season, with a 3.78 ERA in 111 innings pitched.

A Hypothetical Angels Trade for Zack Greinke

A couple days ago in these pages, I looked at what sort of trade package, in terms of prospects, might be necessary for a team trying to acquire either Zack Greinke or Cole Hamels before the July 31st deadline. Specifically, I looked at what other front-line starters had yielded for their respective teams in recent years — using John Sickels’ prospect grades as a rough guide...

Royals interested in bringing Zack Greinke back

The future of right handed pitcher Zack Greinke is still unknown. The Brewers would like to keep him long-term, but if they're unable to sign him to a multi-year contract and if the Brewers become seller, they will probably deal him. Yesterday, we learned that the Angels, Rangers, Orioles and Braves are among the teams interested in Greinke, and according to Jon Heyman of CBSSports...

Angels pursuing Greinke: fact or fiction?

STOP THE PRESSES!  According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, the Angels fully intend to make a serious bid.  Seriously, for serious. That is what the report says, anyway.  The problem with the report is that it ignores some of the basic limitations of the Angels organziation which make this rumor a bit difficult to swallow. The report is at least half right in that I am sure the...

Baseball Pitcher Ejections! Zack Greinke and Five Other Classics

Brewers starter Zack Greinke was hoping to win his fifth straight decision and stay unbeaten against Houston. Instead, he threw just four pitches and was ejected from Saturday’s 6-3 loss to the Astros, who snapped a nine-game losing streak in front of 23,027 at Minute Maid Park. What you may not know is that Greinke toed the rubber on Sunday the day after his ejection as well…...

What Greinke or Hamels Would Yield in a Trade

With the Milwaukee Brewers and Philadelphia Phillies 6.0 and 10.0 games out, respectively, of the second wild-card spot in the National League, it’s probable that one or both teams will trade their front-line, free-agent-to-be starters — i.e. Zack Greinke and Cole Hamels — before the July 31st trade deadline. “What might either be worth in terms of a trade?” is a question...

Aoki, Greinke, Braun strong in first half

It's not exactly the way most would have assumed the NL Central would play out, but when the All-Star break arrived, last year's title-winning Brewers were eight games back and the eternally struggling Pirates stood alone in front. Of course, there's plenty of time left in the season, and even last year, Pittsburgh threatened to push the division contenders before falling...

Here's a running list of trade rumors around the Major Leagues: – The Los Angeles Dodgers are the favorites to acquire Ryan Dempster according to Jon Heyman of CBSSports. 2012 F12 All-Star Snubs

What do Zack Greinke, James McDonald, Johnny Cueto, Madison Bumgarner, and Ryan Dempster all have in common? They all should have been pitching in Kansas City last night. Every year there are players that have a legitimate gripe for not being chosen to the Mid-Summer Classic. However, this season some pitchers have a better case than others. A total of 28 pitchers (2 DL) were chosen...

SF Giants Rumors: Giants Scouting Pitchers, Cain Is Named NL Starting Pitcher

Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com says scouts of six contending teams were watching the Brewers starting pitcher Zack Greinke face the Astros (Saturday), but they didn’t get to see much since Greinke was ejected two batters into the game.   The six teams that were listed as having a scout present was the Orioles, Rangers, Braves, Diamondbacks, Blue Jays and the San Francisco Giants...

Here is my look at the Brewers 25-man Roster Power Rankings…it got really hard after 11 (that’s what she said) ***NOTE:  The number in parenthesis is change from last week*** #1: OF Ryan Braun (-) – 7-hits, 2-homers, and 6-RBI this week keeps Braun on top of the list #2: SP Zack Greinke (-) – Loved the ejection…though with a normally calm Greinke, is frustration setting...
