getty images Clayton Kershaw may be the best pitcher in baseball. Without going into a big debate lets just focus on the 1.72 ERA and 0.86 ERA that the 25-year-old left hander has put together in 198 1/3 innings of work this season. Kershaw has gone eight innings in five of his last six starts and has pitched six innings or more since April 23. Yet, the Dodgers though that giving Kershaw $210 million over seven years was too much reports FOX’s Ken Rosenthal. Currently ending a two-year deal worth $19 million the price for Kershaw is sure to reach the $200 million threshold and beyond. Rosenthal goes on to say that the Dodgers will again attempt to sign Kershaw this offseason. The largest contract for a pitcher currently is $180 million over seven years to Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Justin Verlander.
