Tampa Bay Rays minor league pitcher Matt Bush was arrested Thursday and will face charges of leaving the scene of a traffic accident and driving under the influence after a near-fatal incident in Charlotte County, Florida, The Tampa Tribune reported. The overall top pick in the 2004 MLB draft was driving in his SUV on US 41 around 5 p.m. when he hit a motorcyclist from behind, according to the Florida Highway Patrol --allegedly driving over the man's head in the process. Officers said Bush, 26, then left the scene of the crash, leaving the 72-year-old motorcyclist, who was later hospitalized, in serious condition. "Literally the tire on the SUV ran over the driver's head. Without the helmet, the gentleman would have been dead instantly," a witness told WBBH-TV. Bush was later arrested in North Port, Fla., about 80 miles south of Tampa. He was taken to Charlotte County Jail and detained.
