The Boston Red Sox reportedly have been offered a mega-deal by the Miami Marlins, who would trade closer Heath Bell and infielder Hanley Ramirez for outfielder Carl Crawford and a prospect.

The proposed traded, which was first reported by USA Today Sports on Wednesday, would involve three All-Stars who have combined contracts of $239 million.

Crawford, who was activated for the first time this season this week, was slowed this season by elbow, wrist and groin injuries. Bell has blown six saves of 25 save chances this season and has temporarily lost his job. Ramirez is in the midst of a season-long slump, hitting a career-low .249.

Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington denied Crawford, who is in the second year of a seven-year, $142 million contract, was involved in any trade talks.

"We have not offered Carl to a single team," Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington told USA TODAY Sports. "We have not pursued anything on Carl Crawford. Carl is our left fielder."

The deal also would signal a while flag for the Marlins, who spent hundreds of millions of dollars on players this off-season while opening Marlins Park.

"It's up to the players," Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen said Monday. "If they play good, nobody is going to leave. If they play bad …it's part of the business. It's a big week for us, yes."

USA Today Sports also reported the Marlins are considering trades involving infielder Omar Infante and starting pitchers Josh Johnson and Anibal Sanchez.

Ramirez, 28, was part of the Red Sox's minor-league system before he was traded to the Marlins in a deal that helped them land starter Josh Beckett. He was selected as the 2006 National League Rookie of the Year and won the 2009 batting title (.342) in 2009. However, his average has fallen the past two seasons.

Crawford also had issues the past two years, hitting a career-low .255 last season and was sideline by injuries this season.
