Free-agent third baseman Casey McGehee, whose numbers have declined since his productive 2009 and 2010 seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers, has agreed to a one-year, $1.3 million deal to play for the Rakuten Golden Eagles of the Japanese baseball league, according to the Japanese site Sankei. McGehee's deal could be worth as much as $2 million if he reaches certain incentives, CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reported. Rakuten also signed former Major League All-Star Andruw Jones recently. McGehee, 30, hit .301 with 16 home runs in 116 games for the Brewers in 2009, and he hit .285 with 23 homers and 104 RBIs in 2010. His batting average dropped to .223 with 13 homers the next year, and he was traded to Pittsburgh. McGehee hit .230 with eight home runs in 92 games for the Pirates in 2012 before being traded to the Yankees during the season. He hit .151 with one home run in 22 games in New York.

CC Sabathia really wants a 'Doc McStuffins' doll for Xmas
Someone tell Brian Cashman that the return of Mariano Rivera and the acquisition of Kevin Youkilis as Christmas gifts for CC Sabathia just won't do.
Those two things are only stocking stuffers compared to what the New York Yankees big lefty really wants — a 'Doc McStuffins' doll.

Yankees Hot Stove: Another nonsensical move
Just as fans start to comprehend that the New York Yankees are all about one-year deals this off-season, the brass throws another curveball that makes no sense.

Holiday Weekend Takeaway Thought: With a second Gulf Coast League team, are the Yankees attempting to construct a mirror universe, and thus are they tampering with a fundamental law of atomic physics?

Reminder: Derek Jeter Is A Pretty Cool Guy
Relevant.By all accounts, New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter is a bro’s bro, whether he’s doing everyone a favor by releasing Minka Kelly back into the wild or handing out autographs after one-night stands. And sure, being a Yankee legend in this frenzied media era means that he’s subject to more criticism and scorn than any Bombers of the past, but he’s played it pretty...
