The Texas Rangers and outfielder Nelson Cruz are working on a deal for next season to avoid salary arbitration on Feb. 17, according to ESPNDeportesLosAngeles.Cruz has asked for $7.5 million in 2012; the Rangers are offering $5.5 million."I'm not afraid of the process...If we need to go to arbitration, I'll do it. But in an ideal world, it's better to avoid it altogether," Cruz said.Cruz batted .263 with 29 home runs and 87 RBIs during the regular season for the Rangers last season. He was spectacular in the the postseason earning ALCS MVP honors. "I'd like to be a Ranger for life...I like the city, the team and the fans," said Cruz.The 31-year-old will not be eligible for free agency until 2014.
