Upton has been claimed off waivers, according to a report by St. Petersburg Times reporter Mark Topkin. The team that claimed Upton was not identified.Upton has been an enigma since Tampa Bay made him the second overall selection in the 2002 draft. He batted a career-best .300 in 2007 but his average has dropped precipitously since then, reaching a low of .237 in 2010.The 27-year-old is hitting just .223 for the season with 18 homers, 58 RBIs and 26 stolen bases in 444 at-bats entering Saturday.
