Andre Ethier‘s name has been coming up in trade rumors recently, but the Dodgers might have to be blown away in order for them to deal the All-Star outfielder.
That apparently didn’t stop the Red Sox from at least asking about Ethier, though. According to CBSSports.com’s Jon Heyman, the Sox inquired about Ethier earlier in the offseason but were told the outfielder was “not available.”
Ethier is coming off a season in which he hit .284 with 20 home runs and 89 RBIs in 149 games. He failed to earn an All-Star selection, but the 30-year-old was selected to the Midsummer Classic in 2010 and 2011. Ethier finished sixth in NL MVP voting in 2009 after finishing the year with a .272 average, 31 home runs and 106 RBIs for the NL West-winning Dodgers.

Mariners are the Dodgers' best match for a potential Andre Ethier trade
With the Andre Ethier kinda-sorta-but-not-really rumors floating around (depending who you believe), it might be a good time to check out which teams might be interested in him and what the Dodgers could possible look for in return.
First, let's identify the Dodgers' remaining needs.

Rumor Mill: Trading Andre Ethier & signing Michael Bourn + trading for Joel Hanrahan
Nowhere to start here but with Andre Ethier rumors, right? Well, last time we left off on this rumbling, I was tackling a scenario where Ethier gets dealt and the Dodgers sign Nick Swisher, but there was one other frequently brought up possibility: Michael Bourn.
The Dodgers could pursue free agent center fielder Michael Bourn if they trade Andre Ethier, Rosenthal writes.
Bourn is...
Dodgers’ Ronald Belisario is Kicked off his Winter League Team
It shouldn’t be a surprise to anybody in Dodgertown that oft-troubled relief pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers is once again in the hot seat. This time it is for the Venezuela Bravos de Margarita.
Belisario, 29, has had several issues with the Dodgers in the four years he has spent in Los Angeles. In 2009 he had trouble getting a visa from the United States Embassy in Caracas...
Dodgers, Mariners talked Ethier
Earlier this week, a source told FOXSports.com that two American League teams had been in recent touch with the Los Angeles Dodgers about a trade for right fielder Andre Ethier.
One of those teams was the Seattle Mariners, but the talks failed to progress, major-league sources say. The other team is not known.
Ethier, 30, would be an excellent fit for the Mariners, who had...
Dodger are listening to offers for Andre Ethier
Word came out a day or two ago that the Dodgers were shopping Andre Ethier. It was then corrected that they were only listening to offers, but now there's a report that the Dodgers are interested in Michael Bourn or Nick Swisher, but first must trade Ethier. Ethier is owed $85 million over the next 5 years and will be 31 this year.
Ethier never became the superstar that many...
Scott Van Slyke Clears Waivers, Assigned To Isotopes
The Dodgers have announced that Scott Van Slyke has cleared waivers and he has been outrighted to Triple-A Albuquerque. All that worrying for nothing, rumors of him heading to Pittsburgh, the huge risk of losing him via waivers, and there he is safe and sound with the Isotopes.
Van Slyke, 26, made his Major League debut in 2012 and hit a not-so-impressive .167 (9-for-54) in 27...
Trade Storm Brewing In Dodgertown
Last week we heard from Dodgers GM Ned Colletti saying the Dodgers are probably done spending, more or less, according to Mark Saxon of ESPNLA. The Dodgers still have some holes to fill and if the above is true, there is a major trade storm brewing in Los Angeles.
The Dodgers have Dee Gordon on the trading block and the Mariners have been the biggest aggressor in the pursuit of...
Dodgers Trade John Ely
The Los Angeles Dodgers traded John Ely to the Houston Astros for former Pasadena Poly High School and UCLA star Rob Rasmussen.
As a native of Arcadia, left-handed pitcher Rasmussen, 23, was drafted by the Dodgers in the 27th round of the 2007 amateur draft, but he chose to go to UCLA instead. In 2010, the Florida Marlins selected him in the 2nd round of the 2010 draft.
He was then...

I am at my desk holding the official BBWAA Hall of Fame ballot. It is my reward turned responsibility for covering Major League Baseball for over 20 years.

Dodgers Rumors: LA ‘Kicking Tires’ on Joel Hanrahan, Brian Wilson
