According to a report from WEEI’s Rob Bradford on Friday, Red Sox outfielder Ryan Kalish will likely undergo surgery on an unspecified ailment and miss the entirety of spring training. According to Bradford, the ailment is not to Kalish’s neck, which has been an issue for the outfielder throughout the past year.
Kalish underwent two separate neck surgeries in 2012, one on a bulging disk in his neck and the other on a torn labrum in his shoulder.
The 24-year old Kalish has been one of the Sox’s top prospects for a few years but has been hampered by injuries as of late. He was expected to compete for significant playing time this season, we’ll see if the surgery affects that.
