All season, the Texas Rangers' bullpen has been an extreme asset for the club. The team is taking every precaution to insure that advantage exists deep into the playoffs. By adding pitchers, giving others extended rest and by being judicious with everybody's usage, the Rangers enter their series with the Cleveland Indians on Friday with just 105 relief innings since the All-Star break. It is the second-lowest figure in the majors behind the Seattle Mariners, who have used relievers for 104 1/3 innings. The Rangers' bullpen threw 251 innings in the first half, a middle-of-the pack number. The lighter load in the second half could be significant entering the playoffs. A year ago, Texas relievers pitched 198 2/3 innings in the second half. Manager Ron Washington said that was too much work, and it caught up to the bullpen during a full month's worth of playoff action. "My bullpen ran out of gas," Washington said. The fumes on which the bullpen was ru...

Rangers reporter gets back at players

If we learn anything from the below video is that you don't mess with Fox Sports reporter Emily Jones when she is doing a live shot. Emily was doing a dugout reporter during the Rangers/Rays game on Wednesday and had her report interrupted by Nelson Cruz placing his glove on the camera. Soon, Emily got her revenge by spraying Nelson with a water bottle: Your browser does...

Fox Sports reporter Emily Jones Sprayed Rangers RF Nelson Cruz Like a Dog in Heat

Fox Sports reporter Emily Jones, who so reminds us of Phoebe from friends, had to resort to spraying Texas Rangers right fielder Nelson Cruz with a bottle of water after he disrupted her work. Your... Full story at Bob's Blitz ~ http://www.bobsblitz.com

Rangers call up Profar, 19

The Texas Rangers will give 19-year-old infielder Jurickson Profar, considered their top prospect, a chance to prove he belongs on the playoff roster. The club announced after Friday's 5-3 win over the Cleveland Indians that it intended to purchase the contract of Profar from Class AA Frisco. He hit .281 (135-for-480) with 14 home runs, 26 doubles, seven triples, 62 RBI, 76...

Mets Baseball Card of the Day: Nolan Ryan 5000K Mets Topps

This was one of the stranger Topps cards I have. It’s an older card, 1990, honoring Nolan Ryan’s 5000 K’s, but he’s in a Mets uniform. I haven’t done research on it, I guess it was part of several cards covering his career, as the back is just about his time with the Mets: Want to see your card featured? Click here. Moreland makes progress with glove

Mitch Moreland is more than just a hot hitter. The Texas first baseman, who is flirting with a .300 average thanks to a hot August, is also impressing the Rangers with improved defense. Moreland provided half of the Rangers' offense in an 8-4 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday with a two-run homer -- his third homer in the last eight games -- one night after he preserved...

Rangers can’t finish sweep of Rays

I think the Rangers are allergic to sweeping.  Or maybe they just want to lull the rest of the league into submission.  I don’t know, but I’d like to see more sweeps.  Sweeps are fun. But apparently my boys don’t enjoy them.  Scott Feldman spoiled the one of Minnesota on Sunday, and Matt Harrison did the damage in tonight’s game against the Rays. It really just wasn...

Derek Holland and Ryan Dempster in "Dueling Harry Caray's" (Video)

Ever wonder what the world would have been like if someone had a made a clone of legendary Cubs broadcaster Harry Caray? The guys over at the MLB Fan Cave made that dream come true with the help of Rangers pitchers Derek Holland and Ryan Dempster:

Beltre, Dempster lead the way in Cleveland

Adrian Beltre is a monster.  An unstoppable monster.  At what point will teams stop pitching to him?  I hope it’s not anytime soon, because when he sees pitches to hit, he takes advantage and usually a few bases too. Tonight, the Rangers’ third baseman was 4 for 5 with two singles, two doubles, two runs scored and one RBI.  If not for a stellar diving catch by the Indians’...

Rangers 5, Indians 3

Adrian Beltre had four hits and scored twice to help the Texas Rangers beat Cleveland 5-3 Friday night, handing the reeling Indians their sixth straight loss. Beltre had three of his hits off Ubaldo Jimenez (9-14) as the Rangers rolled to their 10th win in 13 games. The Indians' 15th loss in 16 games made them 5-24 in August, tying the team record for losses in one month, set...

Rangers-Indians Preview

The Texas Rangers are coming off a much-needed day off. Facing the rested AL West leaders is the last thing the Cleveland Indians need. The Rangers' Ryan Dempster looks for a third straight impressive start Friday night as he tries to extend the Indians' longest home losing streak of 2012. Coming off a 7-3 stretch in Arlington, Texas (77-53) begins its 10-game trip with...

Longoria homers twice to help Rays top Rangers

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Evan Longoria homered twice, Tampa Bay roughed up Matt Harrison and the Rays beat the Texas Rangers 8-4 Wednesday night to snap a four-game losing streak. After dropping the last two against the AL-West leading Rangers by one run, the Rays avoided the three-game sweep. Harrison (15-8) allowed seven runs and 12 hits in 5 1-3 innings. He took a no-hitter...
