Will Curtis Granderson Stay in New York?

The Yankees are widely expected to give outfielder Curtis Granderson a qualifying offer, which would be roughly $14.1 million. For a man of Granderson’s recent performance - .229/.317/.407 in an injury riddled 61 games – that’s not a bad deal. And his agent, Matt Brown, told ESPN as much, saying, “He is going to have to look real hard at that. At the same time, it...

Yankees Scouting Korean Reliever Oh Seung-Hwan

There’s been a lot of talk recently about how the New York Yankees are scouting pitchers internationally. But seemingly all that talk has been about Masahiro Tanaka, the superstar fireballer from Japan who went 20-0 last year with a 1.24 ERA and 0.93 WHIP. But, as exciting as Tanaka is (we think the Yankees need to get him), all that talk is overshadowing the other international...

Rivera Honored: Closer gets pregame award

Former New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera made a tantalizing - but not at all serious - offer to baseball Commissioner Bud Selig on Thursday: another farewell tour, this time in the NL. ''Boss, listen to this, OK?'' Rivera said on Thursday night before Game 2 of the World Series between the Boston Red Sox and St. Louis Cardinals. ''Since I did the whole...

Jay throws Cano Belgium b-day bash

Yankees All-Star Robinson Cano, the and most coveted free agent on the market, is ballin' with Jay Z like he's gonna be baseball's first $300 million man. The rapper/sports agency mogul threw a big birthday bash for his star client this week in Belgium, where Jay was performing. They were poppin' gold bottles all night to celebrate his 31st. But the topper was a...

Mike Francesa spars with reporter over A-Rod ‘witch hunt’

WFAN’s Mike Francesa was joined by the Daily News’ Michael O’Keeffe to discuss the way in which New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez is being treated by MLB. Francesa thinks there’s quite a witch hunt against Rodriguez, and the Daily News thinks that’s all a load of crap. Watch and listen as these two talk over each other repeatedly…

What to Expect from Mark Teixeira in 2014

By Yanks in Exile Insider, Rocco Spagnuolo in Massachusetts As we and the Yankees begin planning for the 2014 season and beyond, one of the positions the Yankees hope won't be a question mark is 1st base. Unfortunately, it will be exactly that until Mark Teixeira proves he can get back to the form he displayed from 09-12. So, let's look back at what...

Adam Wainwright Has Nightmares About Yankees, Prophesies NY World Series

So powerful is the lure of the New York Yankees, that opposing players have nightmares about it. No, really. Even players on teams currently more successful than the Bronx’s own are scared of the beautiful pinstripes. Just ask Adam Wainwright, who happens to be currently competing for a World Championship with the St.Louis Cardinals. Wainwright has apparently heard...

Mo Recieves Historic Achievement Award, Standing O from Boston Fans

If you thought Mariano Rivera’s victory lap ended when the season concluded, well . . . you’re wrong. It’s still going, as strong as ever. Last night, before game two of the World Series – in Boston, no less – Mo was honored by commissioner Bud Selig with MLB’s Historic Achievement Award. The award is not annual; it is only given when the commissioner decides...

A fine piece of ownin': Congrats to Hal and Hank Steinbrenner for owning the richest franchise in sports

You know what they say:Owners aren't taught. They're born. And the Steinbrothers certainly know how to flash ownership.Yesterday, Bloomberg - the news outlet, not the pixie mayor - estimated the Yankees' current worth at $3.3 billion, the priciest tomato can on the MLB shelf. The Yankee Stadium urinals should be molded of platinum. If the team switched its business to...

Robertson ready to assume closer reins if called on

The bullpen door swung open during the Yankees' last series of the regular season and in what figures to be a sign of things to come it was David Robertson -- and not Mariano Rivera -- answering the call for a save situation. The crowd on hand for the contest against the Astros in Houston booed and Robertson heard it. He understood that the reaction was not personal but the...

Can the NY Yankees Catch the Red Sox in 20

But the question among both sets of people is the same: can the Yankees catch their dreaded rivals next season? Well, we’re here to tell you what you want to hear: yes. But it won’t be easy....

‘Absolutely not’: A-Rod camp finally denies PED usage

For months Alex Rodriguez has refused to answer the most basic of questions: Has he or has he not used illegal performance-enhancing drugs since his 2009 confession of earlier usage? On Monday his attorney Joseph Tacopina finally went there. Tacopina told CNN that Rodriguez had “absolutely not” taken illegal PEDs recently and challenged the notion that MLB possesses any evidence...

2013 World Series: Yankee Universe flew on Cardinals to St Louis

Losing the 2004 American League Championship Series.  Sign in NYC Subway Car. Kurt Schilling’s bloody sock game. Big Papi. Make the Yankees my Daddy. Carlton Fisk. Fenway Park on 4 Yawkey Way.
