The Baltimore Orioles have hired former major league pitching coach Rick Peterson to be their director of pitching development.
The one-year deal was announced on the team website. Peterson is to oversee the team's minor league pitchers, a job formerly held by Alan Dunn.

The Baltimore Orioles have signed pitchers Darren O'Day and Dana Eveland to one-year contracts.
Claimed off waivers from the Texas Rangers this offseason, O'Day agreed to a $1.35 million deal. The right-handed reliever was 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA in 2011 and is 8-5 with a 2.89 ERA in 186 career games. He made $1,251,000 last season.
