Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano was booed by his home fans on Sunday amid his postseason slump. The four-time All-Star ended the regular season as one of the hottest hitters in baseball, but he has been the exact opposite in the playoffs. Over the final nine games of the regular season, Cano was a scorching 24-for-39 (.615) with 11 runs, 7 doubles, three home runs, and 14 RBIs to help the Yankees win the AL East. He went 2-for-8 with two doubles in the first two games of the ALDS against the Orioles, but he’s been on a record-worst streak since then.Cano double in the first in Game 2 of the ALDS against the Orioles and has gone hitless since then. He’s a postseason record worst 0-for-26. He did have an RBI ground out in Game 4 to give the Yankees their only run that game, but that’s been it.The slump has been so bad that Yankees fans booed Cano after he grounded out against the Tigers in the eighth during a 3-0 loss in Game 2 of the ALCS. 'Sensitive' Swisher says Yankees fans blaming him for Jeter's injury

Nick Swisher is a lot of different things to a lot of different people — overrated agitator to opponents or pie-throwing cheerleader to his teammates. But one thing the gregarious New York Yankees slugger never thought he would be is an outcast with his beloved Bleacher Creatures out in right field. Now it looks like the crowd favorite is hearing things from the fans he's...

Jeter breaks ankle, out for postseason

NEW YORK (AP) -- Delirious only minutes earlier, fans at Yankee Stadium sat stunned in utter disbelief while they watched Derek Jeter being helped off the field. Their worst fears were met, too. The durable captain broke his left ankle and is out for the rest of the postseason. Three innings after Raul Ibanez sent the 47,122 in Yankee Stadium into a frenzy with a tying two-run...

Pitcher arm health: the more we learn, the more we have to learn

The dominant storyline of the last half of the MLB regular season was no doubt Stephen Strasburg, his surgically repaired elbow, and the decision to shut him down.  After the Nationals were eliminated Friday night, the proliferation of “told you so” columns was somewhat muted, given that the Nats squandered a six run lead in [...]

Nick Swisher would like Yankees fans to spare him the poisonous barbs

Sad NY Yankees right fielder Nick Swisher, who apparently purchases eye black from BJs when he stops in for some chew, is sad. The league's second phoniest player, (So, he has that.) after... Full story at Bob's Blitz ~ http://www.bobsblitz.com

Yankees lose Jeter to broken ankle as Tigers pull out Game 1

Column: Day of reckoning had to come for A-Rod

(Eds: With AP Photos.) By TIM DAHLBERG AP Sports Columnist Joe Girardi should be manager of the year just for the guts it took to sit down his $275 million third baseman and help the New York Yankees advance a step closer to the World Series. Benching Alex Rodriguez might turn out to be the easiest move in a drama that is suitable for Broadway, but will play out instead in the Bronx...

Top 10 takeaways from Tigers - Yankees Game One

Seriously, Tiger Fan, Get On This 10) It's somewhat telling that many of the Yankee fans in my social media feeds posted after the Raul Ibanez tying home run in the ninth, but not after the final outcome9) If the Yankees' infield defense improves now that Derek Jeter is out for the year, it's all a testament to his leadership8) Somehow, it just seems really wrong that...

New York Yankees face Detroit Tigers in ALCS Game 2

Can Yankees stars make up for the absence of Jeter in ALCS Game 2?

Joe Girardi contradicts his stance on instant replay after claiming it slows down the game

Joe Girardi has changed his stance on instant replay after the Yankees have been on the wrong end of two calls in the first two games of the ALCS series with the Detroit Tigers. In game one with the bases loaded Robinson Cano appeared to beat out an infield single in which a run would have scored. In game two, after a single by Austin Jackson, Omar Infante clearly made too big of...
