In his column for the Denver Post, Troy Renck says the Rockies remain “strongly interested” in Justin Turner. Original Post, Jan. 20, 2012 at 6:49 pm: Troy Renck of the Denver Post says the Rockies had been trying to acquire Marco Scutaro from the Red Sox, but those talks have stalled and . Instead, Renck says, “it’s more likely they get someone like Justin Turner than Scutaro now.” In December, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York said the Mets were interested in acquiring Eric Young from the Rockies. According to Rubin, Turner could ‘get the deal done.’ However, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports later said the Mets were not discussing Turner as part of a potential deal for Young. Turner played in 117 games for the Mets last season and hit .260 with a .334 OBP, 4 HR, 30 doubles and 49 RBI, while playing second base, third and one game at shortstop.
