SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Rockies’ starter Jorge De La Rosa will skip his next scheduled start with a sore left lat muscle on his side. Had it been the regular season, De La Rosa would have not required rest. This is camp caution, meaning there’s no reason to rush him with the season three weeks away. “It’s nothing serious,” Rockies manager Jim Tracy said. De La Rosa’s next game is scheduled for Friday March 18. Juan Nicasio will start in his place Sunday against the Oakland Athletics in Phoenix. Also, the Rockies released catcher Chad Moeller to give him a shot with another team. Jose Morales is the leading candidate to land the backup catcher’s job.
