The Colorado Rockies have recalled right-handed reliever Edgmer Escalona from Triple-A Colorado Springs. He's expected to be in uniform Tuesday night against the San Diego Padres. To make room for Escalona, the team optioned right-hander Tyler Chatwood to the Sky Sox. Chatwood was 1-0 with a save and a 5.63 ERA in four appearances. Manager Jim Tracy said the move was made simply to get Chatwood more time on the mound. Tracy said he believes that Tyler Chatwood ''is going to resurface and do some special things for this club.'' The 25-year-old Escalona had two saves for the Sky Sox and didn't allow a run in five innings.

Colorado Rockies need an ace, not an innings-eater

Jeremy Guthrie battled through 7 rough innings on Monday. It is still early. There is no reason to panic. However, after 10 baseball games in the 2012 season, it seems as if the Colorado Rockies might think a little higher of themselves than they should be.In the midst of an offseason dedicated to rebuilding the clubhouse culture, the Rockies acquired right-handed pitcher Jeremy Guthrie...

Jamie Moyer makes history with win

A day later, Moyer downplays his accomplishment

Jamie Moyer wasn't overly sore or elated after his record-setting night. The 49-year-old Colorado Rockies lefty was pretty much business as usual Wednesday, the day after becoming the oldest pitcher to win a major league contest. After pitching seven sharp innings against San Diego, his arm was a little bit tired and his legs stiff. But that's typical for him after a start...

Moyer fends off Father Time to notch win at 49

Jamie Moyer is headed to the Hall of Fame. Well, maybe his uniform anyway. Or perhaps even his glove. And whatever the Hall of Fame decides it wants, Moyer said he will certainly deliver...

Jamie Moyer’s Mystical Changeup

Jamie Moyer made major league history Tuesday night in Colorado, becoming the oldest pitcher to record a win, at age 49. I’d also be willing to bet Moyer made history in another fashion: as the first non-knuckleball pitcher to record a win without cracking 80 MPH on the gun. Regardless of if my bet would pay, Moyer’s accomplishment is made all the more impressive by the low numbers...

Jamie Moyer Becomes the Oldest Man to Ever Win a Ballgame

Jamie Moyer is headed to the Hall of Fame... or at least his glove is, as the oldest pitcher to earn a big league victory. The 49-year-old left-hander, who will turn the big 5-0 on November 18, tossed seven solid innings Tuesday to help the Colorado Rockies beat the San Diego Padres 5-3. Relying heavily on his not-so-fast fastball and a cutter that's still pretty nice,...
