Ian Stewart continues rehabbing his injured left wrist, leaving him unable to attend the Arizona Instructional League as he hoped. Stewart has inflammation in his tendons and remains in Denver receiving treatment. The instructional league ends in a week, so Stewart will not be ready in time. If he’s healthy, Stewart plans to play winterball in Mexico. The Rockies are exploring all avenues to fill their second and third base vacancies. While some are longshots — Kevin Youkilis, David Wright, Rafael Furcal — the Rockies will be looking at trades. The Rockies have interest in Seattle’s Chone Figgins, but only at minimal, if any financial risk. Figgins has $17 million remaining on his deal, but no real future with the Mariners. The Rockies also will try to re-sign second baseman Mark Ellis and could use a platoon at third involving Ian Stewart, Jordan Pacheco and Chris Nelson.
