Ricky Romero had one of his best outings of the season, lasting eight innings, allowing only one run on four hits as the southpaw guided the Bisons to a dominant 7-1 victory over Scranton Wilkes-Barre Sunday afternoon at Coca-Cola Field.
Buffalo’s lineup struggled on the day but managed to convert when it mattered the most.
Despite mustering only four hits on the afternoon, the Bisons saw themselves up 7-0 through six innings of play.
Rail Riders starter Brett Marshall struggled with his control, walking five batters in six innings of action, allowing seven runs (four earned).
Bisons catcher Sean Ochinko put the final wounds in the Rail Riders day, launching his 3rd home run of the season to give Buffalo the 7-0 lead.
In addition to Ochinko’s blast, Jim Negrych also had a strong day for the Herd, driving in two runs in addition to being walked twice.
With the win, Ricky Romero improves to 2-3 in Buffalo as the Bisons improve to two games over .500 on the season (49-47).
Buffalo now sits in 3rd in the IL North, 3.5 GB of 1st place Pawtucket and 1.5 GB of Norfolk in the IL Wild Card Standings.
The Bisons now have the next three days off as part of the International League All-Star break before returning to action Thursday at home against Toledo at 7:05.
