In continuing what has already been a troublesome start to the season for Roy Halladay, the right hander was pulled from today’s game after only two innings and 36 pitches. Halladay gave up 4 runs and 4 hits, including a 1st inning grand slam to Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina.

No word has been given on why Halladay was lifted from the game, but it seemed strange after Doc had an easy 2nd inning, where he set the Cards down in order.

Roy Halladay has had issues with extreme heat in the past, and it was pretty steamy this afternoon in St. Louis, but it is unclear if the heat played a role.

Everyone will remember last season against the Chicago Cubs in which Halladay looked overheated and exhausted and had to be removed early in the game.

Halladay is currently 4-4 with a 3.98 ERA and is on the hook for today’s game at this point.

Much has been made of Halladay’s lackluster start including talk of his dipping velocity.

Update: The phillies said that Roy Halladay was pulled from the game for precautionary reasons because he felt some shoulder soreness in his pitching shoulder.
