Tejada, Berkman, Lee and Pence were all ofer. Erstad, of all people, was 2fer 2, raising his BA to a stunning .145 and Bourn drove in 1 run and Keppinger drove in the other with a solo homer. Roy had given up 3 runs through 7 and I was surprised to see Coop send him out for the 8th. Then with 2 out, he gave up a single, then a walk. He was already losing by 1 run and I guess Roy decided to stay in all the way, in case the meat of the lineup managed something vs Joe Nathan, but he gave up a 2 run "double" (meaning that Jason Michaels couldn't get near a catchable fly ball, making Clank look like Carl Crawford out there) and Berkman, Lee and Pence went straight down. sigh And I'm going to scream if I see any player except for Erstad, Michales and pitcher bunting any guy over before like the 8th or 9th inning. Totally stupid waste of an out. I remember all the heck that Jimy Williams got about this as he always used Everett to bunt Biggio over. Seems these days that fans/commenters WANT to watch all these stupid bunts. Uck And speaking of Ex-Stros, Fernando Nieve won his second game of the season, this time against the AL Champion Rays - 6 IP, 3 H, 3 BB, 4 K, 1 ER. Now how is it that the Astros left him for dead and he changes teams and immediately beats 2 of the best 3 teams in the AL? sigh THis team doesn't execute the fundamentals worth spit, their manager sends waaay too many guys who can't steal for spit, won't stand up for the players, won't argue with the stupid 1B umpire who didn't call out Gomez when he ran out of the baseline after a bunt. BAH Anyway, tomorrow, it's Moehler vs Scott Baker, a righty who has an ERA over 5, even at home, but a WHIP of 1.06 and a BAA of .240. His ERA is that high because he is homeriffic - 15 in 74 innings, in fact, more than the walks he has given up, 12. Which doesn't matter because the Astros don't walk, anyway. sigh It's getting to be about time to shake up this team. Starting with getting rid of Coop, Berry and Dewey. Followed by Erstad and Michaels.
