The Pittsburgh Pirates have designated right handed pitcher Jeremy Hefner for assignment in order to make room for Yamaico Navarro on the 40-man roster. Hefner was originally claimed by the Pirates on November 18th, after being designated for assignment by the Padres. The Pirates will have ten days to trade, waive, or release Hefner.
