The trade talks for the New York Yankees are once again heating up. Remember when the Cincinnati Reds offered the Yankees Brandon Phillips, only to have the Bronx Bombers reject them?
Well, how about take two? While we’re still waiting for reliable sources to divulge whether or not a potential swap has been discussed, rumors are swirling about how Cincinnati and New York may once again be discussing a Brett Gardner trade . . . this time for Homer Bailey.
I have to say, if you’re going to trade Gardner to the Reds, I’ll take Bailey over Phillips eight days a week.
But would Bailey be a fair trade? Well . . . it really depends on who you ask. Bailey is coming off of a solid year last season, where he started 32 games and compiled a 3.49 ERA, 1.124 WHIP, and 3.69 K/BB. Those numbers would look good in pinstripes, that’s for sure.
