Both the Yankees and Andruw Jones have expressed a mutual interest in the outfielder returning to the Bronx next year, but so far there has not been any progress toward a contract, according to Mark Feinsand of the NY Daily News. Feinsand added that there are “several” teams that have been interested in Jones this offseason including the Red Sox. Jones was perfect for the Yankees last season. He was brought in to be a right handed bat off the bench while playing solid defense. He did that and even brought a strong positive club house presence to the team. He earned $2 million last season and because of his success and competition from other teams interested in signing him, Jones seems in line for a raise. I doubt anybody would offer him more than a one, maybe two, year deal. New York Yankees Hot Stove: What Hot Stove?

The silence of this off-season is starting to go from calm to eerie, as the New York Yankees have hardly budged. Free Agent Pitcher Roy Oswalt - Image via Wikipedia Other than giving ace CC Sabathia a new contract, almost too efficiently, and inking pitcher Freddy Garcia for another go, nothing has changed. The necessity for another starting pitcher, as well as another lefty for...

Are The Sox Trying To Steal Jones?

From Mark Feinsand: For weeks, it has appeared to be a foregone conclusion that Andruw Jones would return to the Bronx next season, but that’s no longer the certainty it once seemed. The Yankees have stayed in touch with Jones’ agent, Scott Boras, but a source said the two sides have not made much progress despite the mutual desire for a reunion. The source added that “several”...

Red Sox seek Yankees' jones

FOR WEEKS, it has appeared to be a foregone conclusion that Andruw Jones would return to the Bronx next season, but that’s no longer the certainty it once seemed.

Rumors: Interest isn’t mutual between Yankees and Oswalt

This morning we heard that free agent starter Roy Oswalt is just looking for a one-year deal as opposed to the three-year contract he was supposedly seeking. This seemed to have opened the door for the Yankees to get involved in bidding for his services since they aren’t looking to sign any pitchers on multi-year deals. However, this does not seem to be the case. Oswalt is...

No Gio Gonzalez for the New York Yankees

Gio Gonzalez was one of the most popular (and polarizing) trade targets among New York Yankees fans.  I like Gio Gonzalez and discussed why I might have been willing to put a package together centered around Manny Banuelos.  Even if the New York Yankees were willing to meet that lofty price, it would not have been enough because the Oakland Athletics apparently wanted Jesus Montero...

Yankess Looking to Acquire Gio González From Oakland

The New York Yankees looking to acquire some pitching depth, contacted the Oakland Athletics about one of their top pitching prospects. Gio González, a 26-year-old left hander, which New York Yankees apparently love. Athletics asked the Yankees for Jesus Montero and top pitching prospects — Manny Banuelos or Dellin Betances–in exchange for Gonzalez when they discussed...

Indians, Others Have Inquired On Nick Swisher

The Indians are one of several clubs that has called the Yankees about Nick Swisher, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. Cleveland GM Chris Antonetti, a finalist for free agent Carlos Beltran, is also considering trades to improve his club’s offense.  However, Swisher doesn’t appear to be a realistic option for the Indians, since the Yankees don’t have an obvious...

Swisher to the Indians?

via Ken Rosenthal |  The Cleveland Indians are one of several clubs that have called the New York Yankees about right fielder Nick Swisher, according to major-league sources. But at this point, Swisher does not appear to be a realistic alternative if the Indians fail to sign free agent Carlos Beltran. For the Yankees to [...] No related posts.
