After the season ended Brian Cashman indicated that he would like to re-sign all, or at least most of, the Yankees free agent veterans. Except for Freddy Garcia that hasn’t happened yet. They are still in talks with outfielder Andruw Jones, who has also had talks with the Red Sox. But even though they are maintaining talks, Cashman said there is nothing to report as of now, according to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. As for Eric Chavez, the Yankees have held off talks with the infielder until they figure out what they are doing with Japanese infielder Hiroyuki Nakajima, whom they won the posting to earlier this offseason, Hoch reported. The Yankees have 30 days to negotiate a deal with Nakajima otherwise he goes back to Japan. The cutoff date for that is January 6. The Yankees certainly need a solid backup infielder with Old-Man-Rod and Derek Jeter as their regulars. So if they can’t come to an agreement with Nakajima, they will likely be aggressive with Chavez. Although I fe...

New York Yankees Hot Stove: Thank God We Did Not Lose Andruw Jones

Well, it looks like the New York Yankees are ended 2011 on a positive note, as CBS Jon Heyman tweeted that GM Brain Cashman finally re-sign 10-time Gold Glove winner Andruw Jones. Jones is not the five-time All-Star he once was, but he is well worth the $2 million bucks plus another $1.4 million in incentives the Yankees just gave him for another season. Jones is only 34-years...

New York Yankees Interested In Re-Signing Andruw Jones, but In No Hurry

Andruw Jones had a very nice 2011 season with the New York Yankees in a part-time role.  He handled some of the tougher lefties in place of Brett Gardner and took on some designated hitter duties as well.  In all, Andruw Jones ended up with 190 at-bats and while he only batted. 247 overall (albeit with a .356 OBP and .495 SLG), he mashed left-handed pitchers to the tune of a .286...

The Yankees surprised everybody when they won the posting for Japanese infielder Hiroyuki Nakajima nearly a month ago, but the Yankees saw him as a solid bench piece that could fill in for the aging Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter when needed. The deadline to sign Nakajima is on Tuesday, but according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sport, the two sides are far apart in contract negotiations...

A-rod’s shoulder had treatment, too
