I recently acquired my second Hope Diamond Parallel, and I can't get over how absolutely AMAZING they are in-hand. For just over a five-spot, this bad boy can now call my collection its home.Numbered 10/60, it's an awesome addition to my Martin PC, and I'm really happy it's a Russ Dodgers' card. What's so noticeable, of course, is how awesome this card is with all of the blue, and the Dodgers of course being the Blue Crew. Such great symmetry.

Yankees Hot Stove: Martin vs Pierzynski

Since the New York Yankees did not make a qualifying offer worth $13.3 million to catcher Russell Martin makes him a free agent, and gives GM Brian Cashman another vacancy to fill. Russell Martin (Photo credit: Wikipedia) One would believe that Martin is the Yankees first-choice to bring back, as he is familiar with the pitching staff and got two big endorsements from ace CC Sabathia...

Trio of Yankees reject offers, set to become free agents

Three of the New York Yankees most integral parts may be on the move this offseason. Nick Swisher, Hiroki Kuroda and Rafael Soriano all rejected the Yankees $13.3 million qualifying offers. Thus they may now pursue their careers with other teams. The caveat in all this is the team that signs anyone of these players would have to give up compensatory draft pick Via NYDailyNews: ...

After losing, not even the Yankees and Redsocks faced this

Hey, it's time to ponder a few deals the raidin'-tradin' Yankees should make this winter

Well, it's hot stove time! when all us bloggin' mokes fantasize deals the Yanks oughta make. So without further adieu, here's my suggested trades. And don't nobody tell me they're unrealistic! Ruben Rivera was a Screw-Up

Ruben Rivera is best known for being Mariano Rivera's cousin, which is quite possibly the only thing he's ever done right in his life. When with the Yankees, he was released because the players voted him off the team after being caught hocking Derek Jeter's glove and bat to a sports memorabilia dealer. Below you can see what Giants broadcaster Jon Miller described as...

New York writer’s idea of Beltran to Yankees shot down

It is again that time of year when free agent rumors dominate baseball headlines. Unfortunately, it is usually difficult – if not impossible – to determine the original source and the credibility of the news. In some cases, members of the media may come up with ideas that appear to be their very own. The only difference between them and random proposals floated on countless message...

Nick Swisher Rejects Qualifying Offer From Yankees

Nick Swisher played in 148 games this past season.  It marked the seventh-straight season in which he had played in at least that many games.  He is not the type of player you expect to go down to injury, but the Yankees may be exchanging him for a player who is.  The fact is, it's difficult to find a player as durable as Swisher, and now that Swisher has rejected New York...

Is the hostility of October truly over?

Last month, the CW - that's conventional wisdom for you outsiders - seemed to be that Hiroki Kuroda and Russell Martin loved bagels, cherished subway rides, enjoyed homeless people and totally grokked New York City, so all we had to do was send them the contract, and they would sign it. Now, well, maybe they're not so sure. The subways do sometimes have a pungent aroma, and...

Podcast Episode 26: Scouts, The Hot Stove, Sandy & Obama

What does a Major League scout do? What is a typical day like? On this episode of the podcast I interview Jalal Leach, a Pro Scout for the New York Yankees. Jalal was drafted by the Yankees in the 7th round of the 1990 amateur draft. He played in several organizations before making his Major League debut in 2001 with the San Francisco Giants. He and I talk about his job and the team...
