Brant Rustich is a 27 y/o right handed reliever, who has the potential to be a closer. The former UCLA closer, second round pick and top prospect has had his career derailed by a nerve condition. Just last off season, I completed this post on Rustich and his chances of contributing to the big league club, only to see him not throw a single pitch all year. Mack is reporting that Rustich's nerve condition has been addressed and the reliever is looking forward to spring training...It looks like pitcher Brant Rustich will be coming out of the chair swinging this spring. I talked with him earlier this week and he says he’s 100% and can’t wait to get to camp. Remember, this guy was never injured. It turned out to be a condition he was born with that went undiagnosed for his entire life. That’s over now and Rustich begins tossing next week. We know the worse case here, but if the velo remains with a new found feel for the ball, he could open for St. Lucie, quickly move to Binghamto...

What Mets fans should be thankful for
As we sit down to feast on Thanksgiving, I thought today would be a great day to celebrate for what we, as Mets fans, should be thankful.
Many a Met fan these days are of the despondent and cynical version and it’s hard to blame them as the Mets have continued to disappoint their fan base for the last few years.
And now we continuously have to worry about if Jose Reyes will leave...
How will R.A. Dickey surprise us in 2012?
Generally speaking, the less said about the 2011 Mets pitching staff, the better. Despite enjoying good health among their starting pitchers, as well as playing in a pitcher’s park, they finished 13th in the National League in ERA. Yet Dan Warthen still has a job. But I’m not here to talk about the power of incriminating photos. Instead, let’s talk about R.A. Dickey....
2011 MMO Top 20 Mets Prospects – #9 Cesar Puello, OF
In July of 2007, exactly three months after his 16th birthday the Mets signed Cesar Puello, a toolsy, RH hitting outfielder from the Dominican Republic, to his first professional contract. Now 20-years-old, 6’2″ and about 220 lbs., with 1192 lifetime minor league AB’s under his belt, Puello seems poised and ready to bust out in 2012. That’s why he is our choice...
A Few Things The Mets Won’t Be Thankful For Next Thanksgiving
After asking one of my buddies at work, a long suffering Mets fan like myself, to read my post about Cespedes this morning, he remarked afterward, “well there’s a player Mets fans won’t be thankful for next Thanksgiving.” What a freaking genius – and from a 20-year Jarhead no less.
So let me get a one year head start and give you a few things the Mets...
The Mets starting rotation moving forward
The New York Mets pitching rotation struggled last season, while the Mets offense managed to produce the sixth most runs in the National League.
Sandy Alderson has definitely seen the stats, and knows he needs to address the starting rotation this offseason. But what can Sandy Alderson do to improve the rotation for this upcoming season?
Johan Santana looks like he will be ready...
The New York Mets Should Look to Acquire the San Francisco Giants’ Barry Zito
This past weekend I put together a Playstation 3 inspired post suggesting that the New York Mets should look to add payroll this offseason. Take a minute to read over that if you want the full breadth of the idea. If you’re just trying to get a little New York Mets fix before you go about your day, I’ll just give you the Cliff’s notes. In order to add to their farm...
Is Chris Volstad Worth Pursuing for the New York Mets?
Over at the Rising Apple, Ben Berkon suggests that the Miami Marlins’ Chris Volstad might be a guy worth pursuing this offseason. Chris Volstad was mentioned as a non-tender candidate on MLB Trade Rumors today and if the Miami Marlins do end up declining to tender him a contract, the New York Mets would be able to pursue him in free agency. Despite poor numbers over his...
Martino: Mets Holiday Weekend Plans Don’t Include Any Signings
Yesterday afternoon, Andy Martino of the Daily News tweeted the New York Mets are not likely to generate any news on Thanksgiving or in the days that follow in regards to signing or trades, according to a team official:

Reviewing my 33-year-old grudge against Richie Hebner
It’s natural for fans to have favorite players and it follows that there will be athletes that do not invoke feelings of sympathy. I like to think that in the last decade or so that the people on the Mets that I detested all earned those feelings from me by their performances on the field. There was Rey Ordonez and his inability to hit. There was Guillermo Mota and the gas...
Mets still in exploratory stages of off-season
Michael Baron: In talking with fans both here and on Twitter, it seems a lot of people are anxious for the Mets to make some kind of moves, and for good reason. However, the new CBA just got signed, and the course the Mets take has a lot to do with where Jose Reyes decides to go, and Sandy has said that process will be slow.
The winter meetings run from December 5 – 8 in Dallas...
Obviously relating the Mets to Thanksgiving…
I highly recommend you checkout this article by Anthony DiComo of MLB.com called “Dickey aims to scale Kilimanjaro for cause.”
Gotta love R.A. Dickey…

CRICKETS, CRICKETS, CRICKETS………………….
Remember this? Mex’s power nap!
I don’t know if it’s the calm before the storm or a sign that the Mets will remain dormant in winter time news but there is absolutely nothing baseball wise coming out a of Flushing. I can get pushing the new uni and all the pomp and circumstance for this season 50th Anniversary but for the love of Casey Stengel is there any baseball news...
