It was time for the seasoned veterans to show off their bean-bag prowess on Tuesday, as Ryan Dempster and David Ross went head-to-head in the final first-round matchup of the Beautyrest Baggo Classic.
Dempster made sure to stretch out before taking his turn, but limbering up did not help his game. The right-hander managed just five points over the two rounds, putting him far outside of the championship round. Ross was a little more successful, coming within one shot of facing Will Middlebrooks in the finals, but fell just short.

During a visit to Comcast New England's "The Baseball Show" set last night, new Boston Red Sox P Ryan Dempster and OF Jonny Gomes poked some fun at one time Red Sox player Kevin Kevin Millar.
Then during the segment, Jessica Moran announced that "Kevin from Austin" was calling in and of course it was Millar defending himself.

If you look closely to the Red Sox pitching staff you could find one hidden gem, without much fanfare.
26 year old Junichi Tazawa is now three years removed from Tommy John surgery, and maybe he is the ace the Sox have been searching for.
Back in 2007 Craig Shipley and Jon Dibble of the Red Sox were the first scouts to see Tazawa in an industrial league in Japan. One game they...
Steven Wright has bounced around the minors for years. Now, as Wright embarks on another spring training, he’s turning to someone who carved out a very successful big league career for some advice.
Wright, who was acquired by the Red Sox last July, will soon meet Tim Wakefield. The two presumably will discuss the art of the knuckleball, which Wright began throwing as his primary...
Will Middlebrooks is going into his first full year with the Red Sox, taking over as the everyday third baseman and putting together the pieces that he hopes will make him a staple in the Boston lineup for years to come. When it comes to who he’s styling his game after, he points to a player who will be situated very close to him in the lineup: David Ortiz. But it’s not necessarily...

If Will Middlebrooks' performance today at the
Beautyrest Baggo Classic championship game is any indication of his future with
the Red Sox then you might as well retire his number right now. The Red Sox
third baseman put a legendary beating on closer Joel Hanrahan to win the
Beautyrest Baggo Classic championship title.
The first round of the Beautyrest Baggo Classic is nearing its conclusion, and Andrew Bailey may have provided us with the highlight of the competition.
The reliever knocked in a pair of bean bags with a single toss on Monday, making up for his one-point effort in the first round and vaulting him into a tie with Mike Napoli for third place. The second man to go, David Ortiz, may...
Is Dustin Pedroia finally on Twitter? That’s the scuttlebutt on Tuesday morning.
According to a tweet by Red Sox third baseman Will Middlebrooks, the Laser Show is in fact finally on board with the social media network — but not without some controversy.
Alright people. Pedroia has a twitter. @15Lasershow . Idk if the world is ready for this..... But I am.— Will Middlebrooks...
Pitcher Terry Doyle grew up as a baseball phenom in Salem, New Hampshire. The town once rallied around the young star, who they also affectionately knew of because he worked at his father's local convenience store. His local fame was at its prime as he was selected to the All-State team as a junior, then proceeded to go 10-0 as a senior. He then took his talents to Chestnut...

Lyle Overbay is probably throwing a mini-tantrum right now in Ft. Myers as the
Red Sox have completed a trade with the Seattle Mariners for OF/1B Mike Carp.

On Wednesday the Red Sox organization announced the starting lineups for their annual doubleheader against some familiar faces - Northeastern University and Boston College. After a quick glance it’s clear NU will face the majority of the Red Sox starters while BC faces the organization's rising prospects.
According to ESPNBoston.com’s Gordon Edes the Red Sox have changed...
When the announcement of Pedro Martinez as a special assistant to the General Manager of the Boston Red Sox occurred my faith in both the management and team was restored. Now that he is being assigned to work with individual players my lost faith in the pitching rotation is being restored. Felix Doubront came to spring training with a sore arm and overweight. Doubront is a crucial...

Many may not remember, but this season is not David Ross‘ first rodeo with the Red Sox.
The veteran catcher spent about a month with the team back in 2008, when the team reached the American League Championship Series before falling to Tampa Bay in seven games. Ross told NESN’s Tom Caron and Peter Gammons that he was able to learn valuable lessons from Jason Varitek during his...
