Cardinals send reliever Rzepczynski to minors

Making a move to shore up a shaky bullpen, the St. Louis Cardinals have demoted struggling left-handed reliever Marc Rzepczynski to the minor leagues. The decision Monday means for now that the Cardinals are keeping Mitchell Boggs on the active big league roster despite a 12.66 ERA. Bad body language has no place in baseball

The way Tom Hallion describes it, David Price swore at him with his body language in yesterday's game and he responded, verbally. This makes total sense to me.  Lord knows I've seen plenty of bad body language.  Having 3 small kids, it is a daily occurrence.  So, from now on, you know what I'm going to do?  Anytime I catch my kids using bad body language, I'...

Adam Wainwright: Bad barbecue makes me want to fight somebody

St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright loves baseball. If he didn’t, he probably would not be pitching professionally. But there is something in life he seems to love much, much more. That something is barbecue. During a Q&A with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch earlier this week, Wainwright discussed how big of a foodie he considers himself to be. When Derrick Goold asked...

Cardinals' Jason Motte 'felt good' after throwing

The St. Louis Cardinals' bullpen is in sorry shape, and the team is hoping to get closer Jason Motte back at some point this year. The right-hander offered good news yesterday, as he told Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com that he "felt good" after playing catch for the second consecutive day. Motte -- who was diagnosed with a ligament tear in his right elbow earlier this...

Cardinals rumors: St. Louis not shopping for relievers

Earlier this week, it appeared that the St. Louis Cardinals could enter the trade market early in order to upgrade their bullpen. However, Cardinals’ relievers have improved over the past week, and general manager John Mozeliak told reporters – including John Paul Morosi of FOX Sports – that the team isn’t going to look into acquiring bullpen help from outside the organization...

Wainwright, Cards welcome Reds back to Busch

(AP) -- The Cincinnati Reds didn't face Adam Wainwright in their visit to Busch Stadium earlier this month. They won't be so fortunate this time around. Wainwright will try to help the St. Louis Cardinals avoid a season-high third consecutive loss on Monday night when these NL Central foes renew their rivalry. Trying to build off a season-opening 4-2 homestand, the Reds...

One more in St. Louis

After yesterday's late comeback victory, the Pirates find themselves in the same place that they were in when this series started on Friday -- a half-game behind the Cardinals. If the Pirates win today, they'll move into first place in the division and they'll ensure themselves at least five wins on this 10-game road trip no matter what happens in Milwaukee next week...
