Mr. Fret. The iconic mascot lets it all out.

NEW YORK (Sportsman’s Daily Wire Service) Standard and Poor’s (S&P), the US based financial service company and one of the big three credit rating agencies worldwide, has downgraded the New York Metropolitans National League Baseball Club (Mets) to the unprecedented status of “really ******.”

A combination of the Wilpon family being victimized by the Bernie Madoff ponzi scheme scandal, poor management, over-valued contracts, and a variety of other confounding team operation decisions have all played a part in reducing the Mets to the “really ********* status. This came after first being classified as “plain ********* just five months ago. Only two teams have seen their ratings plummet to the “plain ********* status; the 1977 Oakland A’s and 1998 Florida Marlins, one year after both teams’ ownerships held a fire sale, dumping their most expensive contracts.

Mr. Met, the longtime lovable mascot of the team, says his pay has been slashed for the three straight years and now has to pay admission to games.

“What a freekin’ joke.” said Met. “You think the Phillie Phanatic has to go through this ****?”

A source close to the Mets is worried the team may be downgraded again to “completely ********* before the end of 2012. This may necessitate the club asking for a bailout as well as some “half decent” players to join their team to remain a viable member of the National League. The Mets may find themselves with no choice but to seek assistance from the  Yankees, Red Sox, or Germany.

Can Mike Pelfrey Bounce Back in 2012?

I was reading this great article by CBS Sports’ Rich Countinho asking if Mike Pelfrey can bounce back for the Mets this season. Countinho stated that in order for Pelfrey to bounce back for the Mets this year, he needs to go back to his “old” roots. I agree with Rich because the old way of pitching for Mike Pelfrey was what gave him the confidence to go out and...

Warthen Must Confront The Bad Habits Exhibited By Mets Pitchers

Bill Petti of Baseball Nation penned a post on how much Park Factors play into a team’s success. He noted the following about the Mets since their move to Citi Field: After opening Citi Field in 2009, the New York Mets saw a significant decline in their ability to score runs. The team averaged 681 runs scored per year from ’09-’11 compared to 812 over the previous...

And now for your amusement, Part 4 of the four part mini-series exclusive, right here on MMO. The internet place where baseball imagination runs rampant! First we brought you Part 1, which seemed like a good place to start, but it was so long ago that I forgot what it was about, so here’s the link: The 2012 Savannah Sand Gnats. Then we brought you Part 2, which makes perfect...

Mets To Sell 10 Shares Of Team

According to Steven Marcus of Newsday, the Mets expect to complete the sale of ten minority shares of the team at $20 million each by the end of February. It previously was believed that the Mets would close on a minimum of four units by the end of January. No reason was given for the new timetable or whether the closings would take place at the same time. None of the potential...

Mets looking to add lefty outfielder bat for their bench

Andy Martino of the Ny Daily News reports with Spring training is three weeks away, the Mets off-season work might not be complete. According to two team insiders, the club is looking for a veteran left-handed bat for the bench, and is shopping in the aisle that includes Rick Ankiel, Kosuke Fukudome, Raul Ibanez and Johnny Damon. Ankiel or Fukudome could provide Terry Collins...

Mets Notes: Bucholz To Skip 2012, Ankiel Still On Mets Radar, Oberkfell To Bears

Reliever Taylor Buchholz, who has dealt with anxiety and depression issues throughout his career, plans to skip the 2012 season, agent David Pasti told ESPN New York. Buchholz signed with Mets last offseason and went on the DL on June 2 with what was announced as shoulder fatigue. But a month later both Buchholz and the Mets jointly announced that he was dealing with the emotional...

Breakdowns on veteran outfielders Mets are interested in

In an article for the New York Daily News, Andy Martino wrote that the Mets are searching “for a veteran lefthanded bat for the bench, and [are] shopping in the aisle that includes Rick Ankiel, Kosuke Fukudome, Raul Ibanez and Johnny Damon.” Right now Mike Baxter and Adam Loewen are the only candidates for a lefty bat off the bench, and neither of those two players...

The Perfect Way For The Mets To Stick It To The Marlins

If you’re a true Mets fan, then you know how much the Marlins have been a thorn in the team’s side since 2007.  First, Tom Glavine was able to retire only one more batter than I did in the 2007 regular season finale, completing the Mets’ collapse.  One year later, the Marlins wouldn’t get off the field after they once again eliminated the Mets (and Shea...

What if the Mets Had a Chance at 11 More Championships? New Rule Gives More Opportunities

Yes I know we can say “what if” about everything in life but this one could have been feasible with the new playoff system which may go into place this year. By adding another team to the playoffs, the Mets would have been in the playoffs 1984-1990, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2006, 2007 and 2008. They won it all in 1986, had a bunch of AAA players there in 2000, and we all know about...
