After a tough outing for starter Ryan Vogelsong Thursday night in which he surrendered six earned runs in a 6-3 loss to the Braves, the Giants look to respond behind their ace Matt Cain Friday night. Cain was brilliant in his last outing against the dodgers where he was able to hold them to one run in seven and a third innings notching his first win.
The Giants hope Cain can pick up where he left off and maintain the form we have all come to expect from the horse. After a rough, winless April for Cain a second win early in May could help immensely to restore any confidence he lost during last month.
It will be a tough task to even the four game series Friday against Atlanta since they will be sending veteran Tim Hudson to the mound. Hudson has enjoyed great success this year earning four wins already. He’s also posted even better numbers against San Francisco in his career going 8-4 with 3.17 ERA over 18 starts.
