Today in Brooklyn, Johan Santana threw three scoreless innings in his rehab start, allowing just one hit, one walk, and striking out three in a 8-0 Cyclones victory over the Auburn Doubledays.
Santana threw 38 pitches before he went to the bullpen and tossed three more simulated innings, totaling 90 pitches for the day.
During his post-game conference, Johan confirmed that he was in charge of his pitches. “I felt pretty good. I was able to throw some fastballs and some changeups and some sliders.”
This was the first time that Santana had been on the mound since his last start on July 20th before being placed on the 15 day disabled list.
Santana is now expected to join the Mets and start next Saturday against the Braves at Citi Field.
