Many wanted Omir Santos to be the Mets opening day catcher, after his solid job of filling in last year when Brian Schneider went down and Ramon Castro was traded. But apparently many of the Mets pitchers and coaching staff weren't satisfied with Santos behind the plate even if he could repeat his offensive numbers.If Santos could have repeated his 2009 numbers then the two catchers the Mets signed would have been inferior offensive players, but many including myself were skeptical that a career minor leaguer could repeat. Despite the offensive drop off in regard to BA and OBP the Mets appear more then satisfied with Barajas and Blanco in regards to the pitching staff. Barajas has also been a pleasant surprise in the power dept. As far as Santos after being buried behind Thole in AAA he hit a mere .196 and was demoted to double A while the Bisons promoted former Rays catcher Shawn Riggans.
