The Los Angeles Angels were hoping that left-handed pitcher Scott Kazmir would benefit from extended Spring Training and a month in the Minor Leagues, but apparently that may not be enough for him to salvage his career for the Southern California team, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports. In 15 1/3 innings, Kazmir has a 17.02 ERA with 29 earned runs, 22 hits and 20 walks, and he could be released with the prorated amount of $14.5 million left on his 2011 contract in addition to a $2.5 million buyout for a 2012 team option.
