After defeating the Reading Phillies 5-4 yesterday, the Trenton Thunder punched their ticket to the Eastern League Championship for the fourth time in six years where they will take on the Western Division Champion Akron Aeros; who rallied from 2-0 series deficit to advance to the championship round. Trenton will open the first two games of the series on the road beginning tomorrow night at Canal Park before playing the back end of the series at Waterfront Park beginning Friday.
Double G Sports caught up with Stephanie Metzger of Indians Prospect Insider and Justin Lada of the Lake County Sentinel, who both cover the Aeros for their respective outlets to get an experts perspective on what exactly the Thunder will be dealing with in this series.
Â
Double G Sports (DGS): What kind of team are the Aeros, are they a veteran, experienced club or more of a young team filled with youth?

CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman: Indians Ownership Not Happy with Acta
From Heyman-
“Indians manager Manny Acta received a vote of confidence from Indians ECO Paul Dolan, the son of owner Larry Dolan, a couple weeks ago. Votes of confidence are never ironclad, but the one for Acta feels especially flimsy.
Even a couple weeks ago, just after that vote of confidence, which also covered GM Chris Antonetti and club president Mark Shapiro, a source said...
Indians Activate Lonnie Chisenhall From 60-Day Disabled List
There’s been plenty of noise that third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall’s return was imminent, and the Indians announced Sunday morning that they have activated him off the 60-day disabled list. Manny Acta said on Friday that he expected the prospect to join the team on their current road trip. Chisenhall will not be in the lineup on Sunday, however, and Acta indicated he would likely...
Indians infielder Chisenhall activate from DL
The Cleveland Indians activated infielder Lonnie Chisenhall from the 60-day disabled list before Sunday's game at Minnesota.
Chisenhall has missed more than two months after having a bone in his right forearm broken by a pitch from Jake Arrieta in a June 29 game at Baltimore.
Prior to the injury, Chisenhall split time between Cleveland and Class AAA Columbus. He hit .278 with...
Indians activate Chisenhall from disabled list
The Cleveland Indians have activated infielder Lonnie Chisenhall from the 60-day disabled list, the team announced Sunday. Chisenhall has not played in the majors since suffering a broken right forearm June 29. He was hitting .278 with three home runs and nine RBIs. The Indians made room for Chisenhall on the 40-man roster by transferring right-handed reliever Josh Tomlin from...
Indians Asdrubal Cabrera Misses Second-Straight Game
Asdrubal Cabrera was not in the line up again last night for the Cleveland Indians. Â He has missed the past two games with a sore right wrist. Â The Indians have not indicated any plans to put Cabrera on the disabled list and hope to have him back in the lineup soon. Â However, it looks like he may miss the next few games still.
According to Jordan Bastian of MLB.com, Cabrera...
Deduno looks to put Indians in last place
The Cleveland Indians led the AL Central in late June and were in contention through most of July, making it difficult to understand the collapse that has them on the verge of being in last place.
A loss in the finale of this four-game set with the host Minnesota Twins on Monday night would tie the teams at the bottom of the division with the worst record in the AL.
Cleveland was...
Indians 2, Twins 7: The Ineluctability of Pythagoras, the Wisdom of Beckett, and Other Notes on an Interminable Season
Last night, the Indians’ lineup featured a 4-9 resembling so many overcooked ramen noodles:
Canzler (LF)
Kotchman (1B)
Chisenhall (3B)
Phelps (2B)
Lillibridge (SS)
Marson (C)
Believe it or not, they did not win the game.
In more than one way, this was a just loss. Not only did the team deserve to lose this one individual game—anemic offense, insufficient starting pitching...
Series Preview: Indians at Rangers 9/11-
A four game series loss to the Twins has placed the Indians in last place in the American League Central, at least momentarily. The Indians have been almost eliminated from the playoffs and will probably be officially by the end of the week. Since a .500 record is no longer attainable at this point, the Indians will have to lower their goals once again. The absolute minimum would...
How Can The Cleveland Indians Not Score One Run Against The Twins?
The Indians hitters can’t even score a run against the worst team in the American League Central, are you kidding me? These guys are suppose to be professional baseball players. Guys like Jason Kipnis who has shown he belongs in the major leagues on more than one occasion could even get a hit. When things go south for Kipnis they really go south. Not to single out one particular...
This is Next Year: End 2012
This will be the second to last installment of the Minor League rankings for the 2012 season. The players listed are technically 31-40 on the Indians Minor League prospect list according to this site. No players from the 2012 draft have been included in any lists so far, but instead will be featured in their own article later on. The same standards have been used for this month as...
9/11 Game Recap: Indians 4 - Rangers 6
Player of the Game
Tonight's Player of the Game was removed for a pinch hitter late in the game, because that's what should always happen. Matt LaPorta hit an RBI double, giving him a score of 1.68 for the game. It was his first RBI of the season and his first Player of the Game, mostly due to being absolutely terrible during the short time he has been with the Tribe this...
