All in all, it’s been a good couple of weeks for the Seattle Mariners. The Mariners find themselves getting some national attention, the first since Philip Humber threw a perfect game against them. Last week, the Mariners scored a MLB season-high 21 runs in a game against the Rangers. Then, on Friday, six Seattle Mariners combined to throw a no-hitter against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Kevin Millwood started the game, and he threw six innings before leaving with an injury. Millwood became the 4th MLB pitcher to throw a complete game no hitter and be part of another one. The Mariners bullpen, who has been solid all season, picked up the slack with five relievers (Charlie Furbush, Stephen Pryor, Lucas Luetge, Brandon League, and Tom Wilhelmsen) finishing the job and getting Seattle a 1-0 victory. The Dodgers, the best team in MLB, bounced back and took the final two games in the series. Seattle find themselves at 27-35, 8.5 games back of Texas for the A.L. West lead. Good News: Any t...

Millwood's status remains uncertain

Seattle Mariners right hander Kevin Millwood's ability to make his next start won't be known until at least Tuesday. Millwood came out of Friday's start with a slight right groin strain, and an MRI indicates no real damage. But the Mariners won't make a decision on whether or not to have him start on Thursday until Tuesday; he could be pushed back to the weekend...

While you were sleeping: six Seattle Mariners pitchers combine to no hit L.A. Dodgers

Kevin Millwood kept the Los Angeles Dodgers hitless through the first six innings on Friday, but when a groin injury during warm ups prevented him from returning to the game five additional Seattle pitchers came out of the bullpen to finish the job and complete one of the most unusual no hitters in baseball history.  It was a pitchers duel between Millwood and Dodgers starter...

My oh My! Top play of the week for the Seattle Mariners (video)

No-no-no-no-no-no hitter! If anybody in their right mind thought I would be doing anything else this week besides the no-hitter, well then, you crazy fool! In my life time, which encompasses all but one year of the Seattle Mariners franchise history, I have witnessed countless no-hitters tossed, a plethora of perfect games, and even a few no-no’s and pefect games ruined. The...

Mariners had eye on Cougs' Ard for long time

SEATTLE – Seattle Mariners scouting director Tom McNamara told Cougfan.com this weekend that his baseball club has had its eye on Washington State first baseman Taylor Ard for years. A local kid with a polished hitting repertoire is the kind you hate to lose to someone else, he said. That’s especially true for a club that’s spent nearly a decade trying to find a middle-of-the-order thumper.

The Seattle Mariners Combined No Hitter Raises Questions

Seattle Mariners - 1  Los Angeles Dodgers - 0On Friday night at Safeco Field in Seattle, Tom Wilhelmsen delivered the Mariners 114th pitch of the game to Andre Eithier of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Unbeknownst to Tom, Eithier’s sharp hit ground ball to second would complete the 10th combined no hitter in big league history. Kevin Millwood started the game and pitched six innings...

Mariners C Montero 1 constant in no-hitter

(Eds: Updates throughout. With AP Photos.) Still giddy from one unlikely no-hitter, Seattle catcher Jesus Montero went around the clubhouse on Saturday searching for autographs. Montero printed pictures of the six pitchers involved in Friday's combined no-hitter against the Los Angeles Dodgers, plus a couple shots of the on-field celebration. He handed out the photos with a...

Kevin Millwood, Five Relievers Throw Rare Combined No-Hitter Against Dodgers (Video)

Well, that's one way to do it. The Seattle Mariners used a record six pitchers Friday night to combine for a no-hitter. Starter Kevin Millwood was on track for a no-no, having logged six innings with six strikeouts and one walk, but he felt a twinge in his groin when warming up for the seventh. He was pulled, and Charlie Furbush, Stephen Pryor, Lucas Luetge, Brandon League and...

Five other pitchers contribute to Stephen Pryor’s first win & no hitter.

Stephen Pryor is perhaps a name you should get used to hearing as he just picked up his first win in just his fourth MLB appearance. By they way, that win was a no-hitter...that was anchored by Kevin Millwood. Please click the link below to read this feature and watch a post game wrap up of this story.

Seattle Mariners hit bottom, with a six man no-hitter

The Seattle Mariners tossed a six man no-hitter. That’s right, a six man no-hitter. I didn’t even know there was such a thing. I thought after the first pitcher was out, it was over. I didn’t know you could combine player stats. Someone should have told the New York Mets a week ago, because I’m sure they would have pulled Johan Santana. Instead of letting him go bionic man...

(Eds: APNewsNow. ) By TIM BOOTH AP Sports Writer Amid the chaos of the starter leaving with an injury, a two-base throwing error, three walks and five pitching changes, Brian Runge wasn't paying attention to the history the Seattle Mariners were making. <span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">Usually you don’t call pitching a no-hitter a team effort.  It took six Seattle Mariner pitchers to keep the Los Angeles Dodgers hitless Friday night at Safeco Field. <span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"...

Six reasons Mariners no-no vs. the Dodgers was just sweet

A combined no hitter for the M’s On Friday night in front of barely half a full house, the Seattle Mariners were all set to face the best team in all of baseball, the Los Angeles Dodgers. As one of the most storied franchises in the game, it was an honor to host a team of this magnitude. With the ever great Mariners former DH Edgar Martinez back on the field to throw out the first...
