Controversial last out of Humber's perfect game

Philip Humber of the Chicago White Sox threw a perfect game against the Seattle Mariners this afternoon. Check out the video below of the last strike and out of the game. The umpire, Brian Runge, called the batter, Brendan Ryan, out when Ryan tried to check his swing on a 3-2 count. Judge for yourself if the umpire made the right call. The perfect game would have been ruined if Ryan...

Fox never showed a different angle of Brendan Ryan's final swing/checked swing, the swing/checked swing that completed Philip Humber's perfect game. This YouTube video purports to show the final pitch from the first-base side.  Well, if this is legit, that settles that, am I right? It's clearly [muffle muffle muffle]

Tomlin Triumphs In Seattle Last Night Indians Win!

Josh Tomlin was able to pitch the best game I have ever seen him throw last night as the Cleveland Indians were able to muster just enough run support to get Tomlin a win. The Cleveland Indians had a few opportunities to get Tomlin some runs. The main problem for the Tribes offense was Seattle’s Felix Hernandez who threw one heck of a game himself. Tomlin match him inning for inning...

Dugout Digest - wins are (still) stupid

Felix Hernandez had an absolutely dominant performance last night against the Indians. He threw eight shutout innings, allowed five hits, walked just one hitter, and struck out 12. With the Mariners holding a 1-0 lead in the ninth inning, it was time for Seattle's Capital C closer, Brandon League. Of course, League allowed two hits and two walks, and with those four baserunners...
