August has arrived bringing in new faces for the Seattle Mariners. After a brutal July that saw only six Seattle victories, the Mariners shifted from being buyers to sellers. Seattle traded two starting pitchers: Doug Fister to the Tigers and Erik Bedard to the Red Sox. The Mariners also designated Jack Cust for assignment, a move that could lead to Cust’s exit if a team claims him. They did what they had to do and bring in some much needed offense: Casper Wells joined the 25-man roster and went 1-for-4 with an RBI in his debut while the other three bats will spend time in the minors before a possible September call-up: Francisco Martinez, Trayvon Robinson, and Chih-Hsien Chaing. July is over, the Mariners look to August to regain some momentum from earlier in the season.
