The news on Jayson Werth’s broken wrist gets worse. According to Bill Ladson, he will be out “at least 12 weeks” after undergoing surgery on Monday. This puts his return at the beginning of August. So yeah, pretty awful news there. Werth’s been the team’s second best hitter with an .810 OPS this season.
But on the bright side, Zimmerman and LaRoche are both set to return to the lineup Tuesday. And Michael Morse is apparently progressing well, and could be back in time for the series against Boston, which starts June 8. So even without Werth, the Nats offense could go from horrible to just not good!
