Found October 01, 2012 on San Francisco Giants Baseball (SF Giants...:
Tonight starts the San Francisco Giants final series of the 2012 regular season. The good thing is it’s against the rival Dodgers (should make these games exciting) in Los Angeles, and the even better thing is the Giants can officially knock the Dodgers out of the Wild Card race with a win tonight! Tim Lincecum has come off back-to-back shaky outings, but says he’s been told that he’s in the Giants playoff starting rotation. It still isn’t clear which game he will start, but most of the media (including myself) speculates that Lincecum will be the 3rd starter, behind Matt Cain and Madison Bumgarner (Barry Zito likely #4).Outfielder Hunter Pence is in the midst of a hot streak, and looks to keep it going against the Dodgers tonight, and more importantly, into the playoffs! Pence has 3 homers and 8 RBI in his last 4 games. His average hasn’t been anything spectacular since putting on the orange and black, but he’s a RBI machine! Pence has 45 RBI in his 56 games as a Giant!Don’t forget...

93 Wins, Tim Lincecum, and the Postseason Roster

Greetings from the Petco Park press box, where hahahahahahaha I can’t believe the Giants actually won that game. Okay, sorry, I’ll pull myself together — I just watched the Giants wrap up their 159th game of the season. They pulled off a pretty spectacular comeback win, but Tim Lincecum pitched poorly (more on that later); and this was my last chance to see the 2012 Giants...

SF Giants Rumors: 2012 Is A Career Year For Buster Posey

It was just two years ago that the San Francisco Giants were crowned World Series Champions, and had a Rookie Of The Year catcher named Buster Posey. Last year the Giants fell short of making the playoffs. Posey was injured May 25th 2011 with a horrific collision at the plate with Scott Cousins. That derailed the Giants chances of back-to-back championships. This year it’s a different...

The Giants and 96 wins

Before this season began, I pegged the Giants to win anywhere from 88 to 90 wins in 2012. Despite Buster Posey back and the starting five looking dominant as ever, I thought they would still struggle to compete with the Arizona Diamondbacks for the top spot in the NL West. Boy, things are looking a little different. The Giants have three games left this season – all agaisnt the...

Lincecum says he will be in Giants' playoff rotation

Looks like Tim Lincecum is in the San Francisco Giants' playoff rotation. So says Timmy himself. The two-time Cy Young Award winner delivered the news in his postgame Q&A with reporters on Sunday after the Giants beat the Padres 7-5. Lincecum gave up three homers and didn't look sharp, but he looked sharper than in his previous start. And that apparently was enough...

MVP: The ‘P’ stands for Posey

I know there have been countless articles and posts on who should win the NL and AL MVP awards. Trust me, I’ve read almost all of them. I thought I’d give my two cents on the topic – avoiding bias as much as possible. As for the AL, the race has narrowed down to two players: Miguel Cabrera and Mike Trout. Both are explosive, dynamic players who are vital to their team’s success...

Tim Lincecum will be part of Giants playoff rotation

It was not the best season for San Fransisco Giants pitcher Time Lincecum but the two time Cy Young award winner will be a part of the rotation when the playoffs begin. Lincecum was better after the all-star break compiling a 7-5 record to go with a 3.83 ERA and a .243 batting average against. “He’s tough mentally,” manager Bruce Bochy said. “He finds a way.” The San Jose...

How Every Regular Season Should End

Indeed, this is how every regular season should end; with the Giants on top of the division, and having eliminated the Dodgers from the playoffs. Enjoy your weird mid-week final day, Giants fans.  For it shall be drama-free for the Giants, other than the in-our-own-heads drama us fans can come up with. It’ll be fun to watch the drama of other teams and other divisions. It...

Giants 7, Padres 5

Pinch hitter Xavier Nady homered off Huston Street to tie the game with one out in the ninth and Hunter Spence hit a go-ahead, two-run shot as the San Francisco Giants rallied to beat the San Diego Padres 7-5 Sunday. The stunning rally got Tim Lincecum off the hook for the loss, but the righty still had his second straight shaky start for the NL West champion Giants. Lincecum allowed...

Dodgers playoffs hopes end against the rival Giants, making a final GIFcap as tough as any

Buster Posey started the scoring in the top of second inning with a homer off Chris Capuano. A Luis Cruz RBI groundout knotted the game at one, but Joaquin Arias broke the tie with a homer in the top of the third. Yes, seriously. Joaquin Arias. Marco Scutaro extended their lead in the top of ...

Giants rally in 9th to beat Padres

SAN DIEGO -- Xavier Nady, who has struggled all season, first with the Washington Nationals, then with the San Francisco Giants, slugged a pinch-hit home run to tie the game in the ninth inning and Hunter Pence followed with a two-run shot as the Giants rallied from three runs down after seven innings to beat the San Diego Padres 7-5 Sunday afternoon. The Giants, who scored two...

What Should The Giants Do With Tim Lincecum In October?

by Hannah Miller, special to 22gigantes.com It might be a bit hard to think that a two-time Cy Young Award winner still in his 20s might not be an integral part of a team’s playoff push. However, Tim Lincecum has had an overall rough 2012 campaign. In fact, during the first half of the season, he was one of the worst starting pitchers in all of baseball. Even though he has turned...
