It’s been reported by Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic (via twitter) that the San Francisco Giants offered Willie Bloomquist a two-year deal (more than $3.8 million) before he re-signed with the D-Backs. Which means Bloomquist took less money to stay in Arizona.
The G-Men are looking for a fallback guy for shortstop Brandon Crawford, says Andrew Baggarly (via twitter). Baggarly also says shortstop Clint Barmes has some big fans on the Giants coaching staff.
This pretty much says that they’re out of the running for the elite free agent shortstops Jose Reyes and Jimmy Rollins. What’s your thoughts?
