Chris Haft of MLB.com says San Francisco Giants fans should keep an eye on prospect Heath Hembree. He generated plenty of excitement last season by amassing 38 saves and 78 strikeouts in 53 1/3 innings between San Jose and Richmond. Haft says Hembree can be a replacement for Closer Brian Wilson who will be extremely expensive next year when he’s arbitration eligible.
I’m sure a lot of Fear The Beard fans don’t want to hear that, but it’s something that the Giants might have to consider to try an keep this starting rotation intact. They would need to find ways to save money in other places.
Haft doesn’t see Carlos Beltran returning to the Giants. The price tag for Beltran is too high, and the sight of him walking gamely through the clubhouse with huge ice packs on each knee probably will prevent the Giants from offering more than a two-year deal.
I still believe the Giants need to add another bat. Beltran has a nice stick that would really help this offense if everyone was health...

About eight months ago — April 1st — the Giants extended Freddy Sanchez through 2012 for $6MM. The timing of the move was a bit peculiar, but it ultimately seemed like a prudent deal. The 2B free agent market would be somewhat thin in the upcoming offseason, and the Giants were looking ahead to ensure that second base would not be a void for them entering 2012. Sanchez had proven...
Last night, I dreamt that the Giants traded Brandon Crawford to the Dodgers for two players I’ve never heard of. Weird how the brain works, huh?
I don’t always have dreams about the Giants, and this one was pretty vivid. I was camping with friends and family when the news broke (Crawford was traded in the middle of a game). Because my twitter service was down, I used sticks and...

The San Francisco Giants have declined to offer salary arbitration to free-agent outfielders Cody Ross and Pat Burrell. The moves Wednesday mean the Giants will not receive compensation if Ross or Burrell sign with another team. The Giants still could re-sign Ross, but Burrell has said he will likely retire because his troublesome right foot hasn't healed.
To Jeremy Affeldt, Thanksgiving isn't a day. Nor is it a season. It's a year-long commitment.
Thus, spending the holiday distributing free turkeys or ladling gravy at a homeless shelter isn't enough for Affeldt.
Happy Thanksgiving Giants fans! Here is another rumor that has a player linked to the San Francisco Giants. Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports says the Dodgers, Brewers and Giants are showing interest in Jerry Hairston Jr. for a super-utility role. Hairston plays second, third, short, and all of the outfield positions.
It’s clear that the Giants are showing interest as a backup plan...
