Jeff Suppan has signed a minor league deal with the Kansas City Royals. Suppan was released by the Giants on March 29th. It was a mutual decision, as Suppan had an out clause if he did not make the Opening Day roster. Bob Dutton of The Kansas City Star tells SF Giants Rumors that Suppan was signed as a deep fallback option. That could change, if he’s dominant in the PCL and a need arises. It’s a no-risk situation for the Royals. If Suppan pitches well, then great, he’s available if they need him. If he’s average, he fills out the AAA rotation as long as he’s needed and not blocking someone.
