Andrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com says Angel Villalona no longer has a locker in the Giants clubhouse. Which means his work visa issues won’t be resolved anytime soon.   That’s not a huge blow to the Giants organization. Villalona was not going to be in camp fighting for a roster spot on the San Francisco Giants 25 man roster. He was just going to get some AB’s in spring and then likely start his season back with the San Jose Giants. I’m sure in time Villalona’s visa issues will be resolved. In another article, Baggarly says prospect Francisco Peguero had another surgery on his right knee in December. It’s reported as just a cleanup procedure, and Peguero expects to be cleared to play in games in the next couple of days. Peguero is another player that Giants fans might like to keep their eye on. He’s played most of his minor league games in right field. Peguero was hitting .324 last season with the SJ Giants before getting the call up to Richmond. Between both leagues, Peguero hit a...

SF Giants Rumors: Matt Cain To Sign, Or To Test The Market?

Andrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com says pitcher Matt Cain and the San Francisco Giants have reached some common ground in recent weeks. Cain will be a free agent after this season, and the Giants are looking to try to extend him prior to the start of this season.   Cain does want to stay in San Francisco, but he’s not looking to give the Giants a hometown discount. Jon Heyman says...

REPORT: Matt Cain wants more than $100 million dollars from Giants

According to <a title="CBS Sports.com: "Giants' hope to keep Cain below $100M unsure now"" href="http://jon-heyman.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/33714192/35090478" target="_blank">CBSSports.com reporter Jon Heyman, the San Francisco Giants’ chances of signing pitcher Matt Cain for less than $100 million dollars is “a major...

The Men Who Weren’t Buster

On May 25, 2011, I left work just after 5 pm, like usual. I walked a few blocks to the gym, did my workout, showered, and came home. I got home just after 8, and ate my dinner while I turned on the night’s Giants game. I had DVRed the game, and started watching on delay. As usual, I skipped through commercials, doing my best to avoid Facebook, Twitter, and all other social media...

Brian Wilson to Open a Bowling Alley?

Remember last year at this time when it seemed like around every corner lurked a new and different endorsement deal involving Brian Wilson?Of course you do.Thankfully, for some, it hasn't ended. Apparently, the San Francisco Giants closer is partnering with Lucky Strike to open up a bowling alley across the street from AT&T Park. And becuase the future failed business venture...

Bees delay spring training game

A swarm of bees caused a temporary delay during the second inning of Sunday's spring training game between the San Francisco Giants and Arizona Diamondbacks.

New York Daily News report: “MLB rules San Jose is Giants territory”

According to an article in the <a title="New York Daily News: "MLB likely to uphold San Francisco Giants' territorial rights in San Jose, leaving the A's stuck in Oakland "" href="http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/mlb-uphold-san-francisco-giants-territorial-rights-san-jose-leaving-a-stuck-oakland-article-1.1032531?localLinksEnabled=false...

Fortified Melk

There are a few ways to ponder Melky Cabrera. There’s Cabrera in the context of how he was acquired: i.e. the Giants traded Jonathan Sanchez. There’s Cabrera in the context of how he impacts the Giants — in pure terms of how much better they’ll perform with Melky, as opposed to how they’d do without him. And then there’s the simple one: Melky Cabrera, free of context...

Brewers 7, Giants 3

San Francisco pitcher Matt Cain looked sharp in his Cactus League debut, but it was the Milwaukee Brewers who came away with a win 7-3 tonight at Scottsdale Stadium. [box score] Cain pitched two solid innings, allowing just two hits and a walk. He tossed 32 pitches. Pinch hitter Zelous Wheeler blasted a three-run homer off Jeremy Affeldt and former Giant Travis Ishikawa added a solo...

Swarm of bees delays Giants-Diamondbacks game

The Diamondbacks' field crew used a combination of cotton candy and lemonade to help disperse a swarm of bees that delayed the San Francisco Giants split squad's 11-1 win over Arizona for 41 minutes in the second inning Sunday. Ian Kennedy's first spring training outing was cut short because of the delay with one out in the second. He threw 29 pitches and allowed one...

Giants 11, Diamondbacks 1

One of the main reasons Major League Baseball holds spring training in Arizona and Florida is because of the sunny weather. Very rarely are there rain storms in the Arizona desert this time of year, which makes for a perfectly-uninterrupted exhibition season. Almost. Nobody accounted for an “insect delay.” With the Arizona Diamondbacks-San Francisco Giants Cactus League game...

Giants 1, Brewers 1

The San Francisco Giants and Milwaukee Brewers played to a 1-1 tie Sunday at Maryvale Stadium in Phoenix. Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun, in his first action since his 50-game drug-related suspension was reversed, struck out in his only two at bats. He was given a standing ovation from the Brewers crowd when he was first announced. But about half the crowd of 6,500 or so were Giants...
