Philadelphia Phillies Manger Charlie Manuel
Now that the ride is over and the trade deadline has passed, many of us will watch the remainder of the season thinking about 2013. Ruben Amaro has said more will be done and this might not be limited to just players. Yes, is it time for a manager change? I am not a believer that Charlie Manuel is to blame for the horror that has been the 2012 season. The idea of replacing Manuel might be difficult to consider for some especially if you consider five division titles, two National League Pennants and a World Series. But this is not about the past, this is about 2013 and beyond.
Moving into 2013 the Phillies will most likely have their core group of Howard, Utley, Rollins, Ruiz, Hamels, Halladay and Paplebon, (Lee?), outside of a blockbuster move. The remaining roster will be ufilled with undoubtedly youth and this is where the “player’s manager” Manuel might no longer fit into the puzzle.

Amaro Says Phillies Have Room to Maneuver
Phillies GM Ruben Amaro joined Mike and Mike in the Morning on ESPN Radio on Thursday, part of a carwash of interviews over the past 48 hours following the trade deadline.
After the trades of Shane Victorino and Hunter Pence, Amaro is left answering questions about the future of the franchise. Amaro also joined Mike Missanelli of 97.5 the Fanatic on Wednesday and said he thinks...
All-Star catcher Carlos Ruiz placed on DL
The Philadelphia Phillies have placed All-Star catcher Carlos Ruiz on the disabled list because he has plantar fasciitis in his left foot.
An MRI revealed Ruiz has a partial tear. He is expected to miss four to six weeks. Infielder Hector Luna was called up from Triple-A Lehigh Valley before Saturday's game against Arizona.
Ruiz was hitting .335 with 14 homers and 58 RBIs....
Ruiz' Inspirational Story: How Chooch became an All-Star from humble beginnings
Carlos Ruiz debuted with the Phillies in 2006. He made his first All-Star Game in 2012. (Philliedelphia/Kevin Durso)
Carlos Ruiz used to be the lowest guy in the lineup, the guy who was unknown to the other 29 teams. Then came 2012, and with all of the injuries and struggles, Ruiz shined. He is unknown no more.
As if Phillies fans needed another reason to love Chooch, Ruiz was...

Victorinos thank Phillies fans with ad
Shane Victorino may have driven some of us crazy time to time with his play, but the man is a true class act. He took out this full-page ad in tomorrow's Philadelphia Daily News. I'm shocked he got this out so fast.
Bob Ventrone, Jr. shared the picture on his Facebook page that I noticed thanks to Phillies Beat Writer Kevin Cooney on Twitter.
Speaking of Twitter, Shane...
Cliff Lee Placed On Waivers
Yahoo! Sports has announced today that Phillies pitcher Cliff Lee was placed on August waivers. August waivers in the MLB can be confusing, I am going to try my best to explain it.
Teams usually place several players on waivers come August. Opposing teams are allowed to claim a player, but the team has the option of pulling him back and either make a trade with the claiming...
Dodgers claim Phillies' Lee on waivers, deal not likely
The Los Angeles Dodgers claimed Philadelphia Phillies left-hander Cliff Lee on waivers, according to CBS Sports. The teams have 72 hours to work out a trade. Otherwise, the Phillies can pull Lee back. Sources told CBS Sports that a trade is unlikely, however, because of the Phillies' high asking price. Plus, Lee has $95 million left on his contract that runs through 2015...
Surging D-backs take on lowly Phillies
Arizona's surge has put it in contention in the tight NL West race.
The Philadelphia Phillies haven't done the Diamondbacks any favors by seemingly strengthening their rivals.
The Diamondbacks look to match their longest winning streak of the season for the second time in two weeks by becoming the latest team to beat Phillies ace Roy Halladay on Saturday night.

Lee Claimed Off Waivers
According to a report from CBSSports.com, a team has claimed Cliff Lee off waivers. Ruben Amaro Jr. said earlier today that Lee is “not going anywhere.”
But that doesn’t mean the Phillies won’t try – or haven’t tried – to deal him. The Phillies could ask for a team to take on all of his salary and several other players in return, and when the two sides could not come...
Ruiz Out 4-6 Weeks With Foot Tear
Ruiz will miss 4-6 weeks. (AP)
Chalk this up as yet another major blow for the Phillies in this season from hell.
Carlos Ruiz will miss 4-6 weeks with a plantar fascitis and a partial tear in his his left foot. Hector Luna has been recalled from Lehigh Valley. Chooch will be reevaluated in two weeks.
The injuries just keep adding up for this team that has gone through a almost...

Blanton trade continues Phillies' sell-a-thon
Three days after the Philadelphia Phillies waved the white flag on the 2012 season, they climbed to the upper deck at Citizens Bank Park and sounded the trumpets to make that declaration all but official. Before their series-opening game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, which resulted in a 4-2 loss, the Phillies sent right-hander Joe Blanton to the Los Angeles Dodgers, who had...
Is Ruben Amaro wavering placing Cliff Lee on waivers?
The trading of Shane Victorino and Hunter Pence this week signaled that Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro came to grips with reality that the team needed an overhaul. But is he perhaps showing a little more fear than we'd like to see in today's decision to place starting pitcher Cliff Lee on waivers?
Source: Phillies have placed Cliff Lee on waivers. Executives expect...
Phillies run finally over?
When the Phillies shipped Shane Victorino to the Los AngelesDodgers a slew of great memories raced through my head. Mainly, the magical2008 World Series run. These past five seasons have been the best baseball infranchise’s history, although some may argue that the early 1980’s was better.
I went back and looked at how that 2008 team was built, and Iwas astonished at the savvy...
Dodgers win claim on Phils' Lee
The Los Angeles Dodgers were awarded the trade waiver claim on Philadelphia Phillies lefty Cliff Lee, a major league source told FOXSports.com.
The teams have until Sunday to work out a trade, or Lee will remain with the Phillies. For the time being, Lee will stay on the Phillies' active roster. There's a good chance he isn't going anywhere at all. One source said a...
How Waivers Work
The trade deadline has come and gone but trades can still be made. Perhaps the trade deadline itself should be named differently to assuage the notion that teams can no longer make deals after it passes. All that has realistically changed is the ability to unilaterally make moves. Teams cannot deal directly with one another the way they could before July 31, as players must first...
