Note that I said consideration. It's hard to imagine Joe Mauer or Mark Teixeira not winning the AL MVP. FoxSports.com recently did a comparison, giving the nod to Mauer at this point.
But when you look at the entire league and come up with a handful of candidates, shouldn't Young's name be included? (The AP photo to the right is of Young's two-RBI single yesterday.) I bring this up because the Rangers have played against a few MVP candidates the last two series and head to Teixeira's home tomorrow. But you rarely hear Young's named mentioned. Is that fair? Young is batting .329 with 21 homers and 61 RBIs this season. He's got 159 hits, so reaching the 200 plateau for the sixth time (a remarkable feat and something too many folks take for granted) should happen.
